My 2000 Daewoo Lanos needs the camshaft oil seal replaced. There are instructions for R&R of the timing belt but not the oil seal.

Check camshaft oil seal also if head wasn't skimmed or not torqued down properly & with new bolts it could be leaking out of head gasket

My auto parts store suggested a thorough cleaning with carb cleaner and then using high tack adhesive or gasket sealant to make sure the seal stays put. I would also like a rundown on R&R of the seal.

It connects the crankshaft to the camshaft, which controls the valves that let the air fuel mix in and the exhaust out of the cylinders

replace the camshaft sensor with a new one, you cannot fix it.

either the bolts need tightening or the ghasket is broken through or a rusty timing cover has rusted through causubg a leak ...clean the cover off with a degreaser and wash off and clean it allow to dry then with engine runnibg visually inspect without getting hands or clothing caught in fan or other moving parts and look to see exactly where it is beginning from ....if it is a rusty leak some materials will help cease the leak as well as a ghasket maker sealant may be used as well to stop the leak ..let me know from where it is and what form of /type leak it is merely the bolts may be just loose !

single cam or twin?

timming marks on cams face each other 3 and 9 o clock crank mark at about 6 o clock mark in cover and sump auto adjuster arrow should be in v mark to set this requires turning water pump by loosening water pump bolts slightly be warned some times this causes pump o ring seal to leak if turning.

it is under the upper timing belt cover between the camshaft gears. According to the manual touching anything related to timing belt requires removing million parts including right front wheel. I suspect this might be an overkill just to remove upper timing belt cover.

So my advice would be to get it done by some mechanic as u will not be able to do it and may damage other parts also.
