97 cavalier 2.2L OHV, MT ; I trying to install an aftermarket tachometer. Distributorless, two coils mounted, stacked on back side of block. No pos or neg wires to this style of ignition coils. I have...

Who manufactured the tach? Maybe they have a web site and instructions? Did you tach come with instructions?

I looked at autometer instructions for your vehicle, have to use an adapter, it ties into the power wire for your coil pack. The adapter costs about 97 bucks, not including tax.

Different tach manufacturers may have different hook-ups?

My 95 cavailer just starting having a problem. motor jolts, has loss of power climbling a hill misfires , engine doesnt die it will start right up but runs poorly also can smell a odor not sure if its gas...

I would check to make sure your spark plug wires are not coming loose from the coil packs on the back of the engine, i had the same problem with a '97 cavalier and then the check engine light started to flash meaning it had a catalyst threatening mis-fire.

also check to make sure you have the correct order, these things will run with the wires mixed up but they are gutless.

a new fuel filter might not hurt either, they are easy to change located near the back axle, one nut and a quick connect fitting.
