Wow no engine stated, 1.6L or the 1.8L , they are not the same.
working with no shop manual, why>?
its toy corolla in snake (gm) skins
they made 40million corolla, a record,
means ,no lack of info on it ever.
the spark plugs in screw, like all do, right tighty lefty loosy.
do not exceed 15ft/lbs, tightening torque , on alum heads.
spark plugs have many sizes,
if you pretend to buy one from NGK
go to NGK dot com, look, yours up, see that p/n
then click that number (its data sheet on this shows spark hex sizes. in clear text... 13/16" or 5/8's or what ever.
a real shop has all sizes, so, its gander pick.

the cat is just bolts and nuts.
what is there to ask here.????
sure rust.
many will be real hard to remove with rust
there is no limits on rust and its effects.
ever.
what will be, will be.
in a real shop they have tools to handle all states here.
1-cut off the bolt and replace them.,
2-or use lots of Penetrating oil and muscle.
way 3 is , use a torch and heat them real hot, the metal explands.
the rust bond breaks and bam its loose. (turned)

why not read a book first???? or youtube all day and pretend,
like "autorepairs for dummies".
amazon has it.
buy it and read all those warnings first.

ill not do the NGK trick for you.
i pick 1.6L
the oem plugs
the click tab , part info
bingo 5/8": hex. is the spark plug deep socket size.
is that hard>
>?
works on all cars.
http://www.partcat.com/ngk

it must be gaped to YOUR ENGINES, spec.
unstated engine.

what is required is tools and skills
ask your muffler guy how to change
it, he will through back his head and go
well let me try, rust happens, a duh factor in all exhaust work,
If you do it, you learn what he know.
rust happens, and can be a small horror.
YMMV your muffler may vary.... LOL

the sparks are turn counter clockwise. 5/8" spark plug deep wall socket.
    they come out.
we blow the pocket out first with shop air
so sand dont fall into the engine.
but it will be there. sand, grit.
they come out, we gap the new ones,
we dont guess, the gap matches 2 things.
the engine compression ratio and the power level of the spark system. yours is weak.
its not classed high energy yet,
on usa cars the hood sticker clearly stated
the gap, read it or read the service manual.

    do not mix wires up
do not strip the head out. (14mm head holes that the sparks fit) do not or cry for week.

1992 geo prizm start but won't run we have changed the fuel filter fuel pump distributor cap and rotary button coil pack battery and alternator plugs and wires the catalytic converter was glowing red

Sounds like the cat or muffler is plugged. If there is an 02 senor ahead of the cat or muffler take it out and see if the car will start, it will run rough but if it starts one of them is plugged and it most likely is the catalytic converter in the exhaust system.

Just wondering where the spark plugs on a 1997 Geo Prizm 1.6L would be. Also, how to change them. Is there any walkthrough with pictures I can download anywhere?

on a four cylinder such as yours, the plugs will all be along the front edge of your engine just below the valve cover and just above the exhaust manifold. follow the spark plug wires to the engine from where they start. there will be a rubber boot when you pull these up (be sure to grab the boot not the wire, the wire can pull out through the top and then you will need to replace the wires) they will pop off the end of the plugs and expose the top of the plugs, a socket wrench is required to remove them from the engine.

I have a 1993 geo prizm,it curently has 176900 miles on it. My problem is that it seems to be lacking power, it sometimes struggels to get over 50. It also gets awful gas millage. I have had it for about...

I suggest you do two different tests. One is a compression test the other is a back pressure test. Compression is for the motor and back pressure is for the catlitic converter. Both take special tools to do and each set costs about $100 to buy. So if this is going to be a one time deal just take it in and find out what's wrong but if you want to buy the tools let me know and I'll walk you through them.

1995 Geo Prizm starts, but stalls when put into drive.

We finally took it to a mechanic and it turned out the ignition coil was bad. Replaced it and the spark plugs and all is well now.

1993 Geo Prizm lack of horsepower

Clean the mass airflow sensor (or replace it outright) and change your oxygen sensor. Those are very big contributors to fuel mileage. Also, verify that the new plugs are gapped correctly.

I have a 1991 geo prizm engine type L4,vin engine code 6 single overhead came. I am going to change the plugs and wires i just had a timing belt changed would it throw the belt off & does the spark...

No, it should make a difference if you replace the plugs and wires when it comes to your timing belt. It will not effect the timing belt at all.
