SOURCE: shifter is stuck in park

The shift cable is off the lever on the trans...the dash indicator states drive but the shifter is in park. Look under the drivers side of the trans, next to the catalytic converter(make sure the truck is cooled off) the trans cable will not be attached to the tranny lever-re-attach and you will be able to get it home or to a shop for a repair. This happened to me already, simple fix.

SOURCE: shifter is stuck in park

Billettechnologies.com sells a replacement cog to put your shifter backinto action. Their part replaces a factory plastic piece...no wonderthese are failing at a fast rate.
Here is the LINK to make this change out of parts...

I have a 2002 ford explore that won't turn over and the shifter won't move. Trina to trouble shoot. Any ideas.

Do you get any action when you turn the key? A click?
Check battery. Dead battery is the first thing to check for. Headlights come on full brightness? Try jumping it?
If shifter won't move, what is it stuck in? If auto, stuck in "park" may simply be that the parking brake is holding tension against the parking gear's workings. If stick, similar, but pressing clutch should clear.

My gear shift is stuck in park.

Hi there, I'm Al the owner of Big As Auto Repair

I look forward to helping you with your problem. Two possibilities, the most likely first. (1) The shifter itself could have an issue. Because sometimes the solenoid in the shifter quits working OR the release mechanism could be broken. (2) The shifter cable going to the transmission could be frozen or the transmission itself could have an internal problem. If you need further assistance go to my website below. Have an awesome day! My LandRover lr3 was stuck in park I googled temperaily got it out to get it home but it is stuck again now. Is there a way I can reset it so the issue stops? Thank you for your help, Heather

Hi Heather, I'm Al the owner of Big A's Auto Repair
The easiest way to solve this problem is to replace the shifter unit itself. What happens is the solenoid on some units quits working and on other units the lever breaks and won't allow the shifter to move out of park. Give me a call from my website if you need further help. Have an awesome day Heather.

Auto floor shifter doesnt work

A/T or M/T auto or stick shift car?
the A/T has what is called park lock out, is it failed, the shifter stuck in park you didnt say what dont work means. or tranny type.

IF A/T and if park is stuck then read the operators guide.
in the glove box, it shows what to do . the bypass , feature.
tell more, get more.

Auto Trans shifter stuck in Park

Apparently there's a latch that catches the shifter, its a yellow piece of plastic (1992 auto 240) I busted it off cause it was gonna make me late for work haha! silly me didnt bother to look in the manual till it was to late but its in there and you can disingage it by sticking your finger in the shifter housing and lifting it or something like that - check your manual !
