Spark plugs also cause an engine to sputter when oil has come into contact with the spark plug well. One diagnoses this by testing the spark plugs and visually inspecting the well. If the car is fuel injected, a blocked or malfunctioning fuel injector might be causing the problem.

My Chevrolet impala 2008 won't drive or reverse, never gave me any warnings regarding transmission issues

You either need to change the throttle position sensor or the gas pedal I got a 2008 Impala I had to put a new gas pedal in in so it would function properly

Replace accelerator cable

Very easy to do. Take the old one off and you will see how easy. At the carburetor, the cable will be secured by a bracket. Unfasten it there, and then on the carb. roll the throttle back to wide open throttle, cable will be loose, lift it out of the groove it rides in and slide the end out of the throttle lever. At the firewall where cable goes to the gas pedal, there will be a rubber grommet that cable goes through. Just punch the rubber grommet out of the firewall.
Now on the gas pedal attachment, many different ways to secure it. Some just snap into a hole on back of gas pedal. If you can't see how to disconnect, take the gas pedal off-usually held to floor by two screws-and turn the pedal around to see how the cable connects. Once disconnected, the cable can be removed, usually drawn out of firewall on the engine side.
Good luck. Now the next time you have to replace it (like 25 years, !) you will know how to do it. Keep the old Honda running!

It could be moisture yes, could be electrical if the wires and plugs are older they will crack and in humid or rainy weather they would be worse-or when they are cold.

Tonight when I was coming home from a Timberwoves Baseketball game I accelerated to pass a car and the accelerator pedal stuck. I could not get it to back down. I shifted the car into Neutral and coasted...

HI,
Wow! Glad you both came out of it unhurt.
What I think happened is that one or more of you engine mounts failed. When you punch the gas pedal on a car with a failed engine mount. The engine will twist in the opposite direction of the torque being created in the drive train. When you punch it hard, while passing, the engine will twist enough to pinch the gas pedal linkage against the chassis wall, locking down. DON'T DRIVE IT, EVEN IF SLOWLY. GET IT TOWED. Installing mounts is not a very difficult job, so you can, if you want, do it yourself. Hope the rest of your New Year has no more excitement and adventure that you don't want.
Happy New Year,
Best Regards,
Mark

Engine Clugs and Sputter while driving up a hill

Check the fuel filter to see if it is plugged.
Remove the fuel filter, and blow air through it in the normal direction of fuel flow. You should be able to blow through it very easily. If it feels restricted, try blowing through it the opposite way, and if there is a lot of dirt coming out, you have found a common cause of this problem. Hope this helps.

1986 Audi 5000 CD turbo cuts out when you punch it

That could happen from something as simple as an overdue air filter, bad plugs, or, unless you know it to be fresh, a failing timing belt, which could destroy your engine which I think is an 'interference' type that can have valves and pistons occupying the same space at the same time if the cam gets out of time.
