The pump is in the tank. The tank has to be droped to replace it. Pumps can go bad at anytime without warning. A failing pump you may not have noticed but can go bad when sitting. Try checking the autoshut down relay and fuses assiciated with the pump. Seems its not getting power or has failed.

Not getting gas from the tank to the engine

Then either the fuel pump has failed, fuel filter is clogged, fuel pump relay is bad, or the fuel pump fuse is blown. Sit in the car in a very quite area or with someone listening at the fuel fill area with the cap removed and turn on the ignition without starting the engine. The fuel pump should come on for a few seconds and then shut down. If it does not then check the fuse and the relay. If it comes on then you know the fuse and relay are good. Replace the fuel filter. If that does not help more than likely the fuel pump is bad and needs replacing. The pump can run and still not be pumping any fuel. A fuel pressure test will verify if the pump is for sure bad. You have an 11 year old vehicle so it would not be uncommon for the pump to go bad especially if the filter has been neglected. A partially clogged fuel filter will destroy an otherwise good fuel pump. You will have to remove the fuel tank in order to replace the fuel pump. Use a hand pump to remove as much fuel as possible from the tank as gasoline weighs around 8 lbs per gallon. The less weight the better. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Engine turns over but won't crank

Start with the fuel pump relay. (swap the relay with another one, like the fan relay) If it won't start, Take the fuel line off the fuel filter and turn the key on and off. each time the key is turned on, the pump will run for aprox.3 sec. There may be fuel pumping out of the line so be careful. If no fuel, it's most likley the pump. Drop the tank and check the wires for fire and good connection. You dont want to replace a pump for no reason.

94 Honda Ex Will not start Where is the Fuel Pump Fuse?

it is sometimes located on the engine bay or interior fuse box just check the labels.., or you can try turning your car on but dont start the engine try to check on the back portion or near the tank if you can hear the fuel pump. Failure or low pressure fuel pump will stall you engine.

1998 dodge neon turns over but wont start

Cars need three things to start. Fuel, Air, and Spark. Chances are it's either missing fuel or spark. If you smell fuel when you turn the engine over the that means you dont have any spark. If this is the case check the distributor to see if it is functioning. If you don't smeel gas then it's probably not getting fuel. In this case, start of By checking all of your fuses to see if any are blown. Mainly the fuel pump fuse and relay. These are the cheapest to start with. If your fuses are good and relay is funtioning then check the fuel pump itself. Hope this helps you and good luck.
