Re: Backup lights are 12 volt constantly, so how do I...
All I can do is give you access to the wiring diagrams at this site and you can look up the best place to wire in the camera. http://bbbind.com/free_tsb.html

In the drivers kick panel is a bunch of wires. It should be one of the 15 or so blue ones. You can test each one with the car in reverse u til it has 12 volts then put in park and make sure it goes away. In all honesty it will be easier to run a wiire from the backup light to the front.
"Life wire??" I don't know what you mean.
Usually, the backup camera will derive its power from the positive lead of your backup lights, so that it only turns on when you're backing up. You can use a standard wire tap to derive positive (+) from either backup light, and use chassis ground for the negative (-) lead of the camera.
Replace the backup light on the right side. Its most likely burned out. A blown fuse would cause both lights to not work. You might have bad wiring to that side. If you have access to a volt meter, have an assistant put your car in reverse while you check the voltage at the backup light socket. Make sure to tell your assistant to keep their foot on the brake pedal. Voltage should about 12 volts
ASE Mechanic:
with out any schematics you can trace these wires down by finding the reverse lights, and disconnecting the bulb and installing a test light, and with a buddy put in reverse while you check to see which wire gets hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
