just because you disconnected the shift cable from the trans doesnt mean the car is now out of gear. The interlock switch is located next to the shifter in the center console. Remove the bezel around the shifter and you should see a small tab that reads (shift interlock) pull it out of its holder and the shifter should once again move
PCM / ECU is located in front of the center console. Remove center console: Remove plastic retaining plugs on each side of front of console use a very small screwdriverto lift the center plug. Move front seats all the way forwarding and remove two back screws on the back part of the console. Lift up the front end of the rear part of console and remove two screws that hold down the front part of console, rear of shifter. Before you can remove the front part of the console the gear shifter must be moved from out of park position, if your car is an automatic. Note: If the battery is disconnected you will need to use the emergency access portin the top of the console. The linear shift cable (Also called Park Lock Cable) is sticking. This happens a lot due to beverages getting spilled in the center console. There is a shifter solenoid that prevents it from being shifted out of park without your foot on the brake pedal. The solenoid may be bad or your brake pedal switch may be bad.
There is a safety lock-out that keeps you from taking the car out of gear if you don't push the brake. If your brake lights still work then the switch is good. Also, some people have reported that if the high mount brake light is bad it will keep the car from being shifted out of park. If all of your brake lights work then the solenoid is bad. Remove the center console to get to the solenoid. Since the solenoid is expensive most people just zip-tie the solenoid open so that you don't have to push the brake to shift it from park.
The center console needs to be removed, pull the shift plate plastic
cover off, remove two bolts inside the console storage box, remove the
phillips screws that are visible, the front center storage box also has
to be removed, the bulb is located on the left side of the shifter from
underneath.

Your car will only shift out of park with the brake pedal down. If this does not release it, there is a bypass switch that is located in your center console near your gear selector. You'll actually have to remove your center console in order to access this bypass switch.
If the transmission won't shift out of park, take your center console out around the shift lever, it's kind of annoying with it being in park. Then in front of the shifter you will see a little lockout solinoid unplug it, it will only have two wires on it, then follow it down to a little metal lever push the shift button and push down on the lever at the same time if it comes out of park turn your key on put it back in park while the lockout switch is still unplugged, and with the key on, it should come back out of park. If it works like this then your lockout switch is bad.
