Question about 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

Open Question

I have a 2008 Equinox and the lever I use to put it in park, has no lights showing so in the dark its hard to see what gear you have it in. I am sure it had lights when I got it. Could it be a fuse?

SOURCE: Fuse Problems

Could be tail fuse, fuse block located on inside drivers side close to hood lock. Are your instrument panel lights on?If they are it's not the fuse, you know there is an adjustment switch above radio towards drivers door that adjust how dim or bright your instrument lights are.Lastly it could be a bulb that burned out under shifter casing.

Does the shifter feel like it did before? Is it looser than it was, a little more free, shifter cable could have come loose under there. Or, your tranny decided to keel over.

Could be the brake switch, but more likely its the shift lock solenoid.

2008 dodge avenger stuck in park but cluster reads neutral

First thing to do is check and see if the brake lights work, the brake lights power the release solenoid so you can move the gear selector from part to the desired gear.

Why do I have to put gear in neutral when it won,t start in park?

The neutral switch is loose or needs adjusting. Sometimes you can hold the shift lever hard in the park position and it will start.

Gear shifter is stuck in park 2008 impala

Can be several things. There is an interlock for the gearshift which must agree with the brake pedal showing your foot is on the brake. If anything is out of alignment, then the gearshift will not release.

Sometimes if you look at the Brakelight, a sure sign of problems is they refuse to light up when the pedal is pressed. The brake pedal interlock at the top of the brake pedal lever is out of place or broken. Once the switch is restored, everything should work again.

Sometimes if the steering wheel is not lined up, a release pin in the column will not let the interlock move. Tilt columns can often have this problem.

I have a 2008 Dodge Avenger. The gear shifter in the floor console will not release from park. I took the console apart and the only way I could ewlease it was to manually move a pink link. What do i need...

There is a small spring that is supposed to pull tention on that pink thing when you attempt to shift out of park. If you look closely, you will see where the tiny hook broke off that allowed the spring to fly off. I reattached a new spring (Lowes) that I cut down to size and by drilling a small hole in the pink thing to attach the spring. Both pink levers must release to allow you to shift out of park. I don't recomend buying a new assembly until they revise the tiny hooks that will not last. Don't put it all back together before verifying that your new spring has enough tention to pull back on the lever with the cable attached. Yep! I made that mistake.
