This sounds like you have a defective switch to me. But make sure because it is not a returnable part. If the switch doesn't cure the problem you must replace the entire seat track assembly, they do not service parts for it. You can buy the switch at www.rockauto.com for about $70.00 including shipping.
It sounds like the regulator gears are stripped. You'll have to actually remove plastic covers on the hinge point and on the side of the seat and you should be able to see the teeth. You may need to replace it, which will be tricky as you need to remove a lot of the cushions as well... I don't believe it'll be a recall as it sounds like wear and tear and abuse (you having slammed it hard to get it to lock)
I have found that on this model a lot of weird electrical problems are caused from connectors pushing out of the fuse box when you push in the fuses. Pull out the fuses for these items, make sure the terminals that the fuse is pushed in to aren't pushed out the back of the box.
if ur buying new, you can only buy the whole assembly....motor and relay...you may be able to pick up a motor at a salvage yard, but they are hard to find...as far as getting to the window motor....remove the seat....remove the panel on the side....remove 2 top bolts and 1 lower bolt...you will have to remove the insulation tape to get to the lower bolt....then you can pull it strait out, disconnecting the wires connected to the bottom of the motor.
