you need a better mechanic that traces ALL of the possibilities of each code, not just read the code and trow in a part hoping that it's fixed ~ it can be wiring as well, not just plug in a new part as mentioned on the 2nd trouble code to the vehicle speed sensor
the first of the 2 looks to be more intensive to trace and find out the problem & the 0722 is the easier job for an intermediate mechanic to trace the wiring for continuity
Yes on both accounts. TIP: Get them to put in writing they will guarantee their repair for X amount of days, just in case sensor does not fix "jerking" problem or if comes back.
Note - not a solution..just adding my woes! I drive a 2003 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V. My car suddenly stalled 1 day and the engine wouldn\'t turn over. Brought it to my mechanic and had the Camshaft position sensor replaced by my mechanic. The car ran fine for about 2 weeks and then the light was back on with the initial symptoms.
Took the car into the dealership and they diagnosed it again as P0335. Said that the mechanic hadn\'t installed the sensor correctly. Charged me a bunch of money to replace the thing and not too long ago the check engine light is on. The Revs bounce around everywhere. Checked the code again and it\'s P0335 yet again! Am in talks with the dealership to get to the bottom of this...
There could be a hundred causes for a check engine light. First step is to hook up a computer scan tool and see what codes the computer has. The next step depends on the codes.
Sounds like it could be overheating. Especially if your wife is driving slow speed through town then there is less air going thru the radiator and the electric fan should take care of that. The reserve does not need to be full but should not be completely empty. When the engine coolant heats up it is pushed into the reserve tank when hot and then gets sucked back into engine when it cools. Anyways the first thing I would check is the radiator electric fan. If the fan is not working then the engine will overheat if stopped or at non-highway speeds. Check the fuse is good and make sure the fan relay is working. There is a seperate fan that works for the a/c and if you notice it start running rough then turn on the a/c and that will kick on the other electric motor to help cool the engine(just hope it is not winter time). You could let the engine idle for a while and see if the fan comes on. The mechanic using the computer has the ability with that computer to actually tell the car's computer to turn on the fan that way he can verify it is working. Sometimes thermostats go bad and can get stuck closed and cause an overheating issue also. So you could also replace the thermostat. Let me know if you have any more questions.
I had the same problem. It was the intake gasket, very common in this model. A $12.00 gasket - Nissan wanted $1000.00 to install it. I got it done for $327.00 - engine light still remains on but car drives just fine.
You need to have this vehicle connected to a computerised diagnostic tool to clear this message. You may also need a service done on the engine which is why is causing this light to display...
buy yourself a scanner [ebay] only cheap & learn to do it yourself with its manual it comes with alist of error codes & their meaning
costs less than the last time!
HI without using the scan tool you can do it by disconnected the the battery for ( 24 h) to reset it or to ( 5 m) to reset the service engine light but the fault sty in the memory
