Good Morning. Check the selenium that is on the motor satrater and this o.k. Apparently, the FORD and MAZDA of those years have a relay that gives the order to the starter to work, do you know where that relay is located?
Sorry, my database doesn't show starter relay on the diagram. At the starter motor, two voltage circuits, one comes from the battery, hot all the time, the other voltage circuit goes hot with key in the crank position, and is wired through neutral switch for auto tranny. The starter motor usually grounds through the engine block.

My info says you don't have a distributor. It shows coil on plug ignition. Just to add, my database only has info on vehicles sold in the US.

Most modern vehicles have the Belt Routing Diagrams on the undeside of the Hood. But the sometimes disappear.
I do not know if you have the 1.6L In-Line 4-Cylinder, or the 2.0L DOHC In-Line 4-Cylinder. Nor what Engine Options you have (AC/No AC, etc.).
