95 buick riviera power seat won't go forward

The seat works going backwards but won't go forward. I assume it's the same motor but the switch may be at fault. Nothing is blocking the movement. Up and down movement still good and back is working. Just can't come back forward.
thanks in advance

The drivers seat will only go forward and back on one side. The other side works fine. What can I do to fix it? It tilts and goes up and down fine.

Yes it the same motor, the problem u will find is the seat control switch, it is the most common failure in any power seat system.

2006 Buick Lucerne Power Seat won't go up or down. Will go forwards and backwards/ Do I need a mechanic to fix.

Probably. The seat will usually have to be removed to check if the switch or motor is faulty, or if the up/down gears are jammed.

Power seat motor

Fron first principles, the reverse movement of the motor is caused by reversing power polarity to the motor. If he motor runs in one direction and not the other then it isthe switch. It is not conecting power to the reverse contact. Check.replace switch.

The driver seat will not go forward

if going backward is working, and foward is not,, easy
,1st determine what is defective-so u know what to replace/repair-2 things only ,[1-switch or 2- motor under d seat]
by presing the backward swicth,, you can hear the sound of the motor running and u can see the seat is going backward...
1-now by pressing the foward switch, and you hear the motor running but not that strong like the rear ..and the seat move an inche /a little and stop,,.then u have a defect weak motor,
2- now by pressing the foward swicth and u dont hear any motor running then the switch is most likely defective
defective switch -repair- spray contact cleaner, remove cover switch, penetrate inside
defective motor-repair-remove motor replace inside carbon,,.chiepest way not to spend to much money..
i suggest even once a month,lubricate all power seat/even not powerseat/,door hinges/.trunk door/.power antenna./ .by spraying lubricating oil,. for maintanace,..you can save a lot..

1985 buick riviera power seat wont move back

You have a damaged drive gear in the seat, the parts are no longer sold for this ol of a model so your best bet is to try and locate a used one.

Drivers seat 2000 outback

So here is a diagram of the seat circuitry for your car. Since every other function works except the forward/backward slide function, that leaves basically the forward/backward slide motor, the seat switch, and/or the wiring. If you can verify that the wiring under the seat is in good condition without obstructions, chaffed wires, and/or wires pulled too tight, then it's safe to say it's down to just the motor and/or the switch. Sometimes if the passengers front seat has the same switch, you can plug it in to the drivers' side connector and see what works and what doesn't. If the seat works fine with the other switch, then that's all it needs, if not then it will need a motor. If the other seat doesn't have a switch then you can find them at wrecking yards, or just supply power and ground to the motor in question to see if it works. If it does, then you know you kneed a switch and if not then a motor.
I hope this info helps!~subyguru~

Power seat will only go forward not back, also will only tilt back, not down/forward.

The motors are under the seat.If you have a test light then check to see if your getting power when you work the seat in the direction that it does not work in.If you getting power then replace the motors. If not check for power out of the switch.I think the motors can only be replaced as a assembly. What you can do is check your local salvage yard and see if you can get good used parts.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Power seat on drivers side of 1996 buick park ave. wont go in reverse every ting else works ok

Chances are one of the motors has gone out. There are 3 motors for each of your power seats. One controls the forward/backward motion, one controls up/down/tilt, and the third controls the reclining seat back. In my '95 model, there is one fuse for the seats under the driver's side dashboard. There should be a diagram inside the fuse panel cover denoting which one controls the seats. Hope that helps!

Power seat, driver side

If only one seat is not working the fuse/relay is ok or both would not work, most likely cause based on experience is the control switch, then the power seat motor.
