try holding the key in the unlock postion longer and maybe even turning it twice to unlock. same with locking hold longer and turning twice.

I forgot to mention about the locks. Mine does the same thing...jumps three times. This is an indicator that one of the locks on the circuit is not functioning properly. Mine happens to be the right front but it could be any door including the boot lid.
The antenna could be a burnt motor; however, my 1987 XJ6 had the same issue. One day it came up just a bit and I was able to slowly coax it fully out. After I got it out, I took some olive oil and lubricated it just a bit--not a heavy lubrication--and it worked well after that although it would still sometimes stick.

The brake light may or may not be connected the the door problem but I would start with checking the ground wires. i have had a problem with the door lock relay and if that is blown the car will not start.
The antenna is just **** , they get dirty and just stop going up and down.

If you havent' already broken the door handles tugging on them, inside the door you will find a linkage with a tensioner adjustment. You need to tighten that linkage adjuster. You will find if you take off the inside door panel and pull the linkage manually the door retanier will actuate. The job is a PIA, and requires a couple of very long, very small box wrenches. Dont attempt to adjust the linkage without loosening the retaining nut, the linkage will shear right off, thus making the outer door handles permanently locked Good luck.

Please consider the following...
15 year old car.
Normally uses remote unlock (key remains unused).
Possible solution, open keyhole cover by particially inserting key. Place WD-40 or other silicone spray lube in the key hole (lots). Operate the key several times... eventually, it will clean the unused parts and open the door.
