I have a 2000 metro the trans shifts hard when you first start up from 2nd to 3rd. But after that it seams not to shift down from 3rd no matter how many times you spot and go again.

Before guessing at transmission problems, check the fluid level (car warmed up, engine running in Park on level ground) and have the PCM scanned for trouble codes FIRST.
Shift suddenly become very hard. When going from park to either reverse or drive it slams into gear. 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are also harsh. All gears seems to work. Problem may be intermittent: Check TPS for smooth electrical response. If the response is jumpy or erratic at all, replace TPS.
Thank you for using fixya and keep us posted.

When i put my car into drive it jerks forward suddenly and when i put it in reverse it jerks backward also. its never done this before

1. Extremely harsh shifts from P or N, normal shifts at WOT: EPC (Electronic Pressure Control) solenoid failed. Easy fix in pan. Fix as soon as possible or hard parts will eventually break.
There are two thing that may be happening that you have described, but you can tell which one it will be since your driving the Blazer. Both are simple to repaire, but to change the EPC. Your going to have to drop the transmission pan so that's going to be a transmission shop and call around, the EPC can be replace the same time there draining the transmission fluid when servicing the transmission which is about $110.00 for fluid and filter replacement and additional $65.00-$80.00 for the EPC valve.
EPC (electronic pressure control) valve TPS (Throttle position sensor)
Thank you for using Fixya and good luck. If it's the EPC failure, replace as soon as possible. may casue the sunshell to fractured or splines to sheared off.

When I drive my 2000 monte ss in the summer after a while it will start shifting hard. I installed a trans cooler and it helped with the problem but it didnt cure it. I have heard about a pressure control...

Start with checking your TPS and if that is good then it could be your EPC (electronic pressure control) solenoid. Easy fix in the pan.

Thank you for using Fixya and good luck.

Shifting out of first takes longer and feels rough

1-2 shift is delayed and harsh, may not shift into OD: Check TPS for smooth and linear electrical response over the entire range of motion. If not, replace.

Extremely harsh shifts from P or N, normal shifts at WOT: EPC (Electronic Pressure Control) solenoid failed. Easy fix in pan. Fix as soon as possible or hard parts will eventually break.

Visit a transmission shop and have them put a line pressure gauge on the pressure test port and go for a drive to verify proper line pressure. Base pressure at idle in P,N,OD should be around 70psi and around 140psi in R. Max line pressure should be at least 190psi at WOT in 1st or 2nd, 225psi is optimum. If base pressure is low, trans or pump is worn out. If max pressure is low, check EPC solenoid. If reverse is slow to engage, and line pressure does not come up to at least 130psi in reverse, replace the boost valve with a Transgo 0.500" boost valve (easy fix in pan).

Here is just a few things that are common to what you have described, I would start checking the Wire leads to the TPS and TPS it self. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to know you got your Transmission running 100% again.

When trans. is warm after extended driving the up shifts are very hard. This only happens during extended driving periods. Around town everything shifts fine.

Shift suddenly become very hard. When going from park to either reverse or drive it slams into gear. 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are also harsh. All gears seems to work. Problem may be intermittent: Check Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) for smooth electrical response. If the response is jumpy or erratic at all, replace TPS. Good luck Auto Zone or Parts Source has this part and can be replaced with in 20 min. Both parts store will have the step by step instructions and i believe the cost is around $65.00 for the TPS which is better then a transmission replacement.

How to reset the service engine soon light

If there is an Auto Zone or any other large auto parts store, have them scan the truck for the DTC codes. The DTC codes will identify the Issues that needs to be addressed in your engine and transmission that has set off the service engine light on. Once the issues has been resolved, the light will reset it self after the third start up and after 40 start up will erase it self from the history as long as there is no additional issues. Good luck and hope this helps, Shift suddenly become very hard. When going from park to either reverse or drive it slams into gear. 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are also harsh. All gears seems to work.
