Check fuel filter, fuel pump, fuel pump relay. easy to check if you have a fuel pressure gauge. there is a tire valve looking fitting in the fuel rail ( where the injectors are connected) install it there and you should have at least 30 psi on idle. rev it and its should go up a bit . run the truck with the pressure gauge installed if the pressure goes down before it dies then you have a fuel feed problem.

2005 F150 4.2L starts running sluggish?

You need an auto electrician with a pro grade scan tool computer to record what happens after 15 minutes to make this happen. The $5k machines can do that.

I have a 1989 Ford f150 drive for about 30 minutes it dies out or stop and want crank for about an hour

I would unplug the gas cap when it stalls; if you hear a hissing sound, change the gas cap, because it builds up a vacuum in the tank.

Old story??

My brother has a Ford F150 that does this the problem turned out to be a bad mass air sensor (little black box with plug in on it located next to the air box on the air intake pipe

'91 F150 won't start

I guess there could be debris in the tank - but the fuel filter will catch it and clog up (is that a hint, or what),

Other possible is the ignition coil... the are plastic inside and they dry out and crack inside.... when they are hot - open circuit... When they are cool, closed circuit - working...

so, next time it dies, check for spark. Otherwise, replace the fuel filter (hopefully you have one OUTSIDE the fuel tank).
Let us know - please... -Jim

Engine starves for fuel after running about 50 miles or so...

Has Neon do same, I ran fuel at low level, on hot day, ran engine until it started to act up & threw a fuel pressure gauge on it. Was at approx 5 psi. Cold next morning, 48-50 psi. Always hot day about 30-40 miles into work in morning, o.k. Sit in hot sun all day & would happen 3-4 times on way home. Sit and let cool, 20 minutes or so & go again for a while. Cool day, no problem. Change pump I would.

2005 ignition switch

Good day;
The following is the removal of the switch
1. remove the steering column trim covers.
2. disconnect the ignition switch harness connector.
3. turn the switch to the run position

IMPORTANT THE IGNITION SWITCH MUST BE IN THE RUN POSITION DURING REMOVAL IN ORDER TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE IGNITION SWITCH.

4. remove the switch screws
5. remove the ignition switch from the steering column

if the ignition switch is replaced and a learn procedure is not performed the engine will crank but not start or will start and stall immediately.

30 minute learn procedure
1. turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF
2. attempt to start the engine then release the key to ON. the vehicle will not start
3. observe the SECURITY telltale. after approx 10 min the telltale will turn OFF
4. turn OFF the ignition and wait 5 seconds
5 repeat steps 1-4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles (30 min) the vehicle is now ready to relearn the PASSLOCK sensor data code and or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK.

IMPORTANT: THE VEHICLE LEARNS THE PASSLOCK SENSOR DATA CODE AND OR PASSWORD ON THE NEXT IGNITION SWITCH TRANSITION FROM OFF TO CRANK YOU MUST TURN THE IGNITION OFF BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE.

6.start the vehicle the vehicle has now learned the passlock and or password
7. if you have a scan tool clear any codes if needed or disconnect the battery for 30 sec. the history DTC will self clear after 100 ignition cycles.

hope this helps

Cheers

Truck starts, dies. truck runs good some days, bad the next

I had the same problem with My 1990 F150 300 6cylinder 4x4.....I cahnged all the same things you did, finally I sprayed a can of Gumout through the throttle body and it worked and ran great. Now I add fuel injector cleaner to the gas and a regular clean with the gumout and the problem has'nt come back. Good Luck to you and hope it works!
