Battery may be bad, have it checked at AutoZone for free. You may have something draining the battery while it is off. Try pulling one fuse out every night. keep doing this until the battery holds a charge. This will help you to isolate which circuit is bad. Try the fuses for electronic devices first. Good luck!

Has the battery been tested? Have you run a battery draw test with a multimeter set to milli amps? If so what is the reading? Also check and make sure no lights are on in the car, check the visor vanity lights, glove box, console if equipped, trunk all of them, do it at night.

Battery dies after several days siting.

Much of the time this is a faulty alternator. It may be charging fine, but when the engine is off may still have a draw on the battery. To start with, you need a test light. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Connect the test light lead to the negative side of the battery and touch the test light probe to the negative cable. If you get a light you have a draw on the battery. that means the battery will be drained in a short time. Disconnect the alternator. If the light goes out it's a faulty alternator. If the light stays on, start pulling fuses one at a time until the light goes off. Do not pull all of the fuses at once! Pull one, if the light doesn't go off, put it back. When the light does go off, whichever fuse it controls is the problem. It's really not that difficult. Good luck.

Alternator isn't charging the battery, the battery is good and holds a charge the alternator tests out good too. ground wires are grounded, fuses seem good. Running out of ideas to look for here.

Taking in all you said here, The alternator is bad. The alternator should be tested when is hot. 95% of the time-- when an alternator is checked cold, it wiil pass as good. CHANGE your alt. it will take care of your problem.

thats not always a great way to diagnose alternator problems if you have alot of electrical components on your vehicle the alt will not run the vehicle, also the alt. is not going to charge your batt. its job is to maintain your batteries life, if you do not have a load tester to test your batt. have some one at a autoparts help you most are free of charge to check.. goodluck

My gmas 98 avenger (2.0) wont start. i bought her a batt about 6 mnths ago. it ran fine. but she let it sit for a week, now no start. batt is dead. afteri charge it wont turn or even make a sound, then...

Back to "square one" If battery was drained by a short, etc and sat for a week like that, likely the battery is now doa...Have it tested. Then start checking for source of drain...at this point everything is suspect. Put an ammeter between either battery cable and battery and start pulling fuses till draw is gone. then check system that fuse serves. Yes \, could be a bad alternator but you really should test before wasting time especially if it's not that.

2002 Chrysler Sebring Sedan: Starter, alternator, both, or otherwise?

Clicking??? Probably starter/alternator. does the starter turn? The clicking, is that all you get when you turn the key? Have the battery checked and make sure its holding a charge. If battery holds a charge, its time to have your alternator tested, if the alternator checks, then the clicking may be the starter/soleniod. Places like autozone will check the battery/alt for free, provided you can still drive to get there.
