Please check the interlock solenoid on the gearshift linkage in the console. also have a check on the clutch system such that if the clutch doesn's disengage properly, then the synchromesh between the transmission prevents it for shifting of gears. if you dont know how to check it please contact us again

there is a transmission sensor on the top of your motor by the intake. it senses the accelerator or motor rpm's and tells the ****** to shift. its about 30.00 and easy to change. get it at any auto parts store.

98 chevy 2500 automatic 4x4... its very hard to shift just replaced the shift column assembly and it is still hard to shift and now wont go down into 1 or 2... at the transmission linkage it moves through...
linkage is binding near the shifter base.

Shift letters for a 1992 chevy 2500. what does each mean?
The D inside of an O is for overdrive. It is an automatic overdrive transmission. There isn't an overdrive button on it. If you want to disable the overdrive you have to shift down a gear.

Do all the other gears work fine? Shift point at the right time? 1 to 2, 2 to 3, What speed does it shift 1 to 2 at light throttle? These are good for having stuck TV valves or broken TV cables. Does it **** when it shifts or when you put it in gear?

I cannot get ignition key out of lock, will not turn off. 92 chevy p.u. 2500
Check to see if there is an ignition lock on the unit you might have to push the release, my 1992 2500 stick shift has one and when I first bought it i didn't know about it, so give that a try the unit might not be turning back all the way and in turn will not let your key go.
