My son accidently drained his transmission fluid instead of his oil. any how his car is a 1994 ford escort 1.9 manuall transmision, how and where does he fill it?

It is filled through the dipstick tube on almost all vehicles. Remember that it will not take
the book value of transmission fluid due to the amount left in the torque converter. Make
sure to check the fluid warm with the vehicle engaged in drive and the brake held down
to prevent movement. (this is a two person test). There is a special funnel to fill the
transmission which is only around 4 bucks at the auto parts store. Hope this helps.

1994 Ford Escort jerks into 2nd gear.

Make sure you're replacing your transmission oil about every 30,000 miles, or as directed in your owners manual service section.
If your gears are slipping, it could be as simple as low fluid or old fluid no longer providing the correct lubrication between your gears.
The issue could also be that your gears have worn down and the metal parts aren't fitting together correctly anymore. This will cause a jump in gear shifting and can only be remedied by rebuilding the shaved down gears in the transmission. Typically, this issue can be identified by pulling out your transmission dipstick and inspecting for evidence of small metal shavings in the fluid.

Good luck!

Does a 5 speed manuel transmission use transmisson fluid and where is the dip stick to check the fluid?

Manual transmissions use gear oil, not automatic transmission fluid.
There will be a filler plug on the side of the gearbox. The gear oil should be filled up to the very bottom of the filler plug hole.

Replacing transmission fluid in standard

The manual transmission in the Ford Escort uses transmission fluid, it is checked and filled in the same hole. That hole is where the speedometer cable is hooked up to the transmission. Remove the speedometer cable, set aside, then remove the locking bolt that holds the speedometer drive unit in place. Pull up on the drive unit and it will come out, look on the side of the drive unit and you will see the level indicator line for full and add. Fill as needed and reinstall the drive unit and cable. Hope this helps, let me know.

How do i refill a manual ford escort 9.1 L transmission

You can check and fill your transmission oil level by removing the speedometer drive unit located at the left top. Remove the cable by removing the clip that hold it, then undo the bolt that holds the clamp down, when you remove the actual drive unit it has a level indicator on it. The oil is Ford Mercon Automatic transmission Oil. Let me know if this helps. Also if you need to add oil, you should find the leak and stop it first.

Ford Escort transmission question

No no, U JUST REMOVE THE SERVICE PAN FROM THE TRANSMISSION, this is under the car not inside. U will need to jack the car as high in the air as you can get it, use safety stands always, then just unbolt the many bolts that retain the pan onto the transmission case and have a drain pan ready, fluid will go everywhere, install new gasket and filter then add 3 quarts of type "F" trans fluid and idle the engine until the trans is very hot, at least 170 degrees's Fahrenheit, then check the fluid level and top it off to the full zone, DO NOT OVERFILL!

Manual Transmission fluid for Ford Escort ZX2

I know this sounds crazy according to Ford:

You can use-
Motorcraft MERCON Multi-Purpose (ATF) Transmission Fluid XT-2-QDX MERCON® Alternative Transaxle Fluid - SAE 75W90 Gear Oil F32Z-19C547-MA API GL-4
You are seeing that right, one instance they call for 75W90 and the other it is ATF. It is ok to run either, 75W90 will give you smoother shifts and less noise.

This transmission is filled through the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) hole.

The transmission is over filled

Only way to do it is to remove the transmission pan.
