Hi Alena:
Here's a way to solve the problem without actually knowing the answer.
Do an oil change on the vehicle, putting in exactly the specified amount of oil, and allowing for the oil filter. The owners manual should tell the required amount.
Then wipe off your new dipstick and check the oil level.
Where it is at should be the full mark. If not, I'd just file a notch at the appropriate spot, and then go drive off for a picnic.
Cheers.

2008 Kia Sorento, how long is the oil dipstick?

Make sure that you are using the correct oil for your car. To get an idea of how much oil you need; the gap between the marks on the dipstick usually represents around 1 litre of oil, so you know that if your oil mark was at the minimum, you need around a litre to top it up.

From the block deck surface to the "full" mark on the dipstick should be somewhere in the 10-7/8" to 11" range. I've compared dipsticks from several manufacturers, including genuine GM parts and several aftermarket pieces and they all fall in that range, with 10-7/8" being the most common measurement.

I have no manual for the car, can you tell me where the transmission dipstick is for the 04 chev aveo? and can you change the oil for a manual transmission in this car. Please Sue

There is no dipstick for a manual transmission. It is a drain and fill system that is on the bottem and bottem side of the transmission

Dipstick for transmission fluid

There is no transmission dip stick... it is a sealed system and no service is necessary. If it's leaking, you'll need to have the seal replaced.
