09 hyundai elantra cruise control will not set

The cruise control will turn on but when i press set to hold speed, the set light comes on for a second and immediately turns off and the vehicle will not hold speed. whats wrong? I changed the stop light switch which also functions as the cruise control disconnect and that fixed it, thanks to all for the help.

Actually a really simple thing. Too elaborate on what the first response put, simply click that "Cruise" button so the light is on. Next, when you're at the speed you want to mantain, click the button on the end of the windshield wiper switch. If you want to drop your speed after that, simply hold down on that same button. If you want to raise the maintained speed, simply slide in the button facing you on the windshield wiper switch. If you want to turn OFF cruise control you can do it one of two ways, either press the "cruise" button again, or simply tap the brakes. If you want to accelerate briefly but maintain that cruise control speed, simply use your accelerater pedal.

SOURCE: 2004 Hyundai Elantra.......Cruise control will not engage

make sure the cruise control cable to the throttle isn't too loose, if it is ok, check your brake switch. if it is sending the signal the brake is on it will not allow cruise to work and will do same thing as described about the set light.

SOURCE: 01 Hyundai Elantra - Cruise Control Doesn't Work w/ Headlights On

I had same problem (cruise control/dashboard lights) for the past month with my 2000 Elantra. Replace the tail lights bulbs - my problem was caused by a problem with the double filament within the bulb. Essententially, there was a short when I turned on the lights or hit the brakes.

I did this last night and everything is working properly now.

SOURCE: What could be wrong with my cruise control? The

ok under the hood on your throttle body there is 2 sets of cables attaching to it the one closest to the throttle body connects to you gas pedal and the one next to that connects to your cruise chances are that it popped off or the cable broke chase the cable back to the control box if there is no breakage then you main cont box went out and should be replaced to locate you throttle body follow the tube from your air cleaner that tube connects the throttle body the cables are right next to that

2005 Elantra cruise control can't maintain speed that it is set to.

Are you on a flat road when this happens, if so it is not normal, if you are climbing it is normal because this car is underpowered for that and the cruise will lose speed, have first hand experience with this .

2005 Chevy trailblazer ext problems 1. Cruise will not set.worked last on 4/12/15 2. While checking fuses for CC problemdome lights stopped working, but worked fine before checking fuses. PLEASE HELP!

Bummer deal! This may be a way to tell you some tail lights are burnt out. Some cruise controls have a fuse in a second location.
The fuse is not in right or is blown. Check with a new fuse. Hope this helps. ...gc http://www.auto-tune-up-and-repair-options.com/

My 2007 hyundai elantra cruise control isn't working. you press the cruise button then the set and the light just flashes up then disapears and nothing happenes

I bought my 2007 Hyundai Elantral about 8 months ago and have loved it! But on my way to work this morning, mine did the same exact thing that you have described here. I assumed it was a fuse (in denial about the fact that it could be something much more serious). Have you found anymore out regarding this problem since you posted this?

I have a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe that we just purchased. The cruise control light comes on but when we try to set the speed it won't engage.

Easiest way to check the brake switch is to have one person step on the brake pedal, and another get behind the truck to see if the brake lights come on.  If the brake switch is good, you may need to have the truck checked out at the dealer.  Yes, we love Hyundai.  We've had 2 Elantra's and my wife has a Tucson.

"Cruise" on a 5-speed '00 Hyundai Elantra

I have this same car. The place you set speed control is on the windshield wiper switch on the right side of the steering column. The button with the indicator light has to be pushed in order to use the cruise control but just because the indicator light is on, it does not mean the cruise is on. Hope this helps a little. If you need more info and someone else doesn't answer more eloquently.. I'll check back and try to give you more info. :-)
