Have the codes read anyway. Turn the key on, do you see a check engine light? We work on auction cars also. To many times I see that the light is not on.

I have a 1999 Lexus rx300 and a couple months ago the check engine light started blinking. Since then it takes a while for it to accelerate and has no power going up hills. Any thoughts or ideas?

when you get warning lights flashing, I would have thought that you would go to a service shop and have the fault codes read and have the fault fixed

Amber warning light on (steering assist failure)

Check for error codes which can be the best indicator to the fault. You can start to suspect the fuel, the fuel filter , the fuel pump , a drop in fuel pressure at higher RPM. ALso check for problems in the electronic ignition section which can show faults at higher RPM.

I have a 2002 2.5 dura-tec engine cougar the other day it stalled on a hill and then immediately started again then the engine light flashed and now around 3500 rpm there is an engine knocking. the...

A flashing CEL (check engine light) means the computer is recognizing a "catastrophic failure" in your emissions system, warning you of the possibility of severe damage to your catalytic converter(s). The power loss could be a number of things, but the knocking, combined with the flashing light, means there is a severe problem with one (or more) cylinders. Get your vehicle towed to a shop for full diagnostics.

Loss of power during acceleration in 1989 toyota camry v6 with dash board indicating check light

The "check engine" warning light advises that the vehicle is in "fail safe" mode. That means only some of the car's capabilities are operational, just enough to get you to the nearest service point. You probably should not drive it any further than that. Have your service man download and analize the fault codes from the ECM which will indicate what the problem is.
