SOURCE: Clunking and knocking noise from rear when hitting bumps.

-it could be the sawy bar linkages
-but also check to see if the struts are leaking or that it looks damp
-but because you said it doesn't look like it bouncing when you hit a dip most likely it could be that the struts are dead
-check to see the cars ride hieght that would give you a clue

SOURCE: replacing rear struts on 1999 Camry

As long as you have the ready struts no. They come with the spring and mount already attached. If you don't, you better have a good spring compressor to remove the old strut and replace it with a new one.

SOURCE: 1994 camry makes a rattling noise in rear

Have you replaced the stabiliser bar rubber bushings? They go hard and produce an irritating rattle.

SOURCE: how do i change rear struts on 2004 camary?

Hello, and welcome to FixYa. I'll be glad to help you out.

When you had the struts replaced, one of two things happened.

one - the rear strut retention bolts were not tightened up properly at the tops of the struts

two- the top supports on the struts were not replaced. Whenever we change the struts, we always replace the top supports. More than likely, this is your problem. The rear strut supports are notorious for wearing out, and, when they do, they make loud banging noises.

2004 Camry rear support part numbers:

Left: 48750-33062
Right: 48760-33062

I would suggest replacing the top supports to cure your problem.

99 camery solara...ratlingnoise front left wheel,

Strut tops are a common failure on the 97-01 era Camry/Solaras.

They will make a hollow rattle sound whenever you hit bumps or uneven pavement.

They can be replaced one at a time, and do not require strut replacement if your old struts are still in good shape.
Replacement does require a strut compressor and an alignment afterwards, placing it outside the scope of most do-it-yourselfers.

It is labeled "suspension support" in the following diagram. The bearing below it is typically replaced at the same time.

It may not be your shocks at all. It could be the bearings in one of your CV joints. If you hear the sound when you are turning then that's your problem. Open the windows and drive at a slow speed while making turns. Listen to what side the noise is coming from and replace that CV arm.
