Peugeot 406. What is the importance of switch that connects positive and negative under key light on the 406 dashboard please?

It is likely that the switch you are referring to is the ignition switch, which is responsible for turning the electrical system on and off when the key is inserted and turned. The ignition switch is an important component of the Peugeot 406's electrical system, as it allows the vehicle to start and provides power to the electrical components when the engine is running.
If the ignition switch is not functioning properly, it can cause a variety of issues with the vehicle's electrical system, including problems with starting the engine, powering the dashboard lights and other electrical components, and controlling the fuel pump. It is important to have a functioning ignition switch in order to operate the vehicle safely and reliably.
If you are experiencing issues with the ignition switch or other components of the electrical system in your Peugeot 406, it is recommended to have the vehicle inspected and diagnosed by a professional mechanic. They will be able to identify any problems and determine the necessary repairs.

Windscreen wipers not working on peugeot 206hdi 2004 fuses find no power to windscreen motor not sure if its a relay or stalk on column ?

The relay for these should be in the motor assembly itself. If there is no power getting to the motor, replace the switch on the column. This should rectify the issue. I have a manual for a 406 if that may be of some assistamce to you.

Hi, i have a 206HDI 51 plate and for some reason my brake lights (O/S N/S and tailgate)have stopped working. i've changed fuses but still no joy, bulbs also seem to be ok. All the other light are working...

Check the brake switch, located on the break pedal. Connect the 2 wires together and if the break lights work, a new switch is required.(if only 1 wire connect to frame/chassis)

2005 peugeot expert 2.0 hdi turns off?

Sounds like a flakey connector - try hunting down all the connectors you can find under the bonnet. Separate them, spray with WD40 and reconnect. Start at the engine management computer (silver block with fins on and lots of wires coming out). Take great care not to bend pins.
