The oil pump should be located in the vehicles oil pan, when you take the pan off there should be a screen and tube that leads up to the pump

ALTHOUGH MY DIPSTICK READS FINE, WHENEVER I PUSH ON THE BRAKES, MY OIL PRESSURE GOES DOWN TO 0 AND MY CHECK GAUSES LIGHT COMES ON

I would say that you are definitely low on oil pressure. The oil pump is usually located inside of the oil pan. Depending on what vehicle you have you might have to have the engine removed to access the oil pan to get to the oil pump. I know on a Cadillac Northstar engine you get 43 hours to do an oil pump.

The oil light comes on, but there is plenty of oil

well you have two things to check first to replace the oil presure switch and the check for the wire sometime the switch start leaking on the wire. if this didnot fix the problem then you need to check the oil pressure if this is didnot pass then you have an internal eng problem

Where do i find the oil pressure switch on the toyota tarago is there one or to I replaced the one on the side of the motor near the starter motor but the red oil light is still coming on

First, do not keep driving if the oil warning light is on or your oil pressure gauge has dropped. Stop the engine, let it sit for a few minutes, then check the oil level.
If the dipstick shows a full oil level, then low oil obviously isn't your problem. The oil pressure may be low because of a worn or broken oil pump, a plugged oil pickup screen in the engine's crankcase, possibly a plugged oil filter or excessive bearing wear. Or, the oil pressure may be fine but the oil pressure sending unit has failed. Further diagnosis will be required to determine what's wrong.
Perform electrical tests on oil pressure switch http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/elect-19.htm
Replace pressure switch as the cheapest means of repair to see if the lights go out .
The pressure switch will be located on the engine block.

Oil light keeps coming on

1992 ford explorer with the oil light coming on, this can be due to a bad switch, this switch is called the oil pressure switch and is located near the oil filter area, this would be the cheapest way to go first and if the light still comes on then you will need to have a pressure gauge hooked to where the switch goes and the gauge will tell you if its really low on oil pressure and if it is then this may be due to worn engine bearings or weak oil pump, i will tell you i have not seen an explorer with low oil pressure just needing a oil pump, most of the time it is time for another engine. what =i have seen is alot of them with bad oil pressure switches that were making the oil light come on . hope this is helpful, good luck.

What does it mean when a red oil light is flashing

Have you checked the engine oil dipstick to ensure that the oil level is correct? A very low oil level will cause light to come on. Top up oil if necessary. If oil level is OK, then it is possible that the warning light pressure switch which is screwed into the engine oil pressure system is faulty and setting off light and needs replacing. There could even be oil leaking out of the switch. The switch is usually located near the oil filter and will have a wire connected to it.
If after replacing switch and light still comes on, check to make sure wire is not making contact with the engine because of cracked insulation or it could also mean badly worn engine bearings. It is unlikely to be the oil pump as these hardly ever fail.

Oil light comes on(no oil pressure pull over and stop turn off car)

This will indicate that there may be some sludge build up in the block, or the oil pressure switch is damaged. The more serious issue will be a failing oil pump. To isolate the issue, simply, have a oil pressure test ran on this engine. If the test indicates that the true oil pressure is optimal at idle, kindly replace the oil pressure switch. Now, if the test proves that the pressure is indeed lower than factory specifications, this will confirm that the pump is damaged. Have the pump, and oil pump screen replaced, in this case.

NOTE_ I would, also, recommend to have the engine flushed asap.

My check oil light comes on when I come to a stop and then goes off when I am driving. I checked oil level and it is fine.

Oil pressure light comes on.message says stop engine now.what are possible solutions.engine has 151,000 miles.i change oil every 3000 to 4000 miles

HI.There are only two possible issue here that will cause this to occur. The first issue will be a failing, or damaged oil pressure switch(sending unit). The sending unit is responsible for transmitting the correct information to the instrument that displays the pressure readings. If there is a wiring issue, or the sending unit has failed, this will cause the oil light to illuminate. In this case, the sending unit must be replaced. Ok, the next issue will be a failed oil pump. This will be the most common issue, in this case, due to the actual mileage on this particular vehicle. A oil pump can fail mechanically(gear failure). This device is not repairable, and must be replaced. The easiest way to isolate the issue, will be to preform a pressure test on the engine. There is a special tool, used by your mechanic, that will allow you, or him, to extract the true pressure readings for the engine, during idle. If the pressure test confirms that the oil pressure is low, or weak, this will lead to a failed oil pump. Now, if the pressure test indicates that the engine is running at optimal pressure range, this will indicate that the oil pressure switch(sending unit), is faulty. It must be replaced.
