Andrew, in automatic equipped vehicles with winter/wet mode selection, I believe it starts vehicle off in a higher gear to prevent wheel spin. Your manual should explain what winter/wet mode is.

found this info: "The available 4-speed automatic features a winter mode. When it's engaged, the transmission starts out in third gear to prevent wheelspin on icy or snowy surfaces. The transmission also has a power mode that gives better acceleration by raising up-shift points. Both modes are controlled by well-placed pushbuttons in the center console."

all with google or DD in 5 seconds work,,,,,

I have a 1998 holden jackaroo SE automatic petrol car and it starts, reverse but when u put it in drive it doesn't drive if you press on the winter drive it goes so what's causing the problem?

Get a trained person to check the transmission. If it goes backwards but only goes forward in winter mode then there is a trans fault because auto's generally pull away in 2nd gear in winter mode to reduce wheelspin.

Where is BRAKE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID in a 2003 Saab 9-3?

It sounds like you are either in "winter" mode, or "failsafe mode". If it's winter mode, you should see the word "winter" somewhere on the display. On my 1998 Saab 900, the winter button is on the console. Pushing it turns the winter mode on and off. If it's in failsafe mode, you're going to need to take it to a GM dealer.

Wats the winter mode for

Winter mode changes it for slippery conditions, to where it starts out in third gear, to get better traction starting out.

Doesn't this car have an onboard dash light to show Winter Mode? Sounds more like it's an engine or transmission issue. Tune up? Trans service?

When I start driving, the engine revs high and barely goes anywhere. it goes slowly up till 25mph and then is fine. It just started today

I believe '02 rodeo's have buttons for power mode and winter mode located between the shifter and the flip up console. You may have accidentally activated winter mode which cuts power to the drive wheels for driving in ice and snow.If so look on the instrument cluster and "winter mode" will be lit in green, simply push the button again to deactivate it while in PARK.Hope this helps ,good luck.

1995 volvo 960 stuck in winter mode

Where roy might have a possible source, it is most likely the park neutral switch which has started to fail. This is indicated by the shift arrow flashing on the dash. Replacement of this component is relatively difficult without a lift

Automatic transmission "s" and "w" buttons

Hello there.

The W/S mode button stands for Winter and Standard. Winter mode increases torque and thus adherence when starting. I believe that under normal conditions, standard mode is to be prefered as it improves acceleration and makes the ride more comfortable.

The ACR button inhibits the electronic drive assistance. This again might be necessary when driving under certain winter-conditions (snow, ice), but should normally be let active.
