Question about 2000 Audi A6
Front view camera
It's the brake pedal switch. There is a switch down on the pedal arm that closes when you press the pedal down, and sends a sensing voltage to the controller, telling it the brakes are applied. This allows the transmission lock to disengage so you can shift out of Park. When that switch fails, the lock won't disengage. You need to replace that switch and you'll be fixed.

a6 quattro shifter wont move? i must suggest calling the dealer service department for advice.
if i wanted to discuss it with other german car owners perhaps pelicanparts. they have an array of german cars they sell parts for and shop forums full of readers who may know where your answer lies.
a google search may reveal an audi forum to voice your concern on.
as your car ages you may find them very helpful to have at the ready on your computer.
you get out what you put in to the forum because so many readers read, think, and consider before responding.
it takes some time for your concern to be seen by all of them so you must be patient.
in the meantime, i find the public library very resourceful.
they have called and gotten me technical books and manuals i thought i would have to buy just to find out what they cover.
german car repair is very specific. and parts can be soooo expensive, but i find they hoard and protect their information the most. thats why i say....dealer item
