I have had no experience with Daewoo since they were not widely distributed in the US, but if the engine casting is the same then the newer engine should fit nicely. You will have to swap out some of the control circuits for the newer ignition system. I suggest spending some time around your local salvage yard comparing your model year to that of the engine donor to see what needs to be swapped. Take plenty of detailed pictures for reference when you (or your mechanic) is doing the work.
sounds like there's an issue with your fuses, you'll probably need to buy a full fuse set for your matiz. if not check that all the cables are in tact and that nothing is disconnected.
Here is some extra information on replacing the Daewoo Lanos indicator / hazard lights relay. Open the driver door, on the side of the dashboard there is an access panel. Flip it open with a screwdriver. Now you can pull out a violet connector block. The relay is plugged into this block, it is green. You can just pull it out of the connector block and replace it by a new one. The part number is 96312545, and it has three pins, numbered 31, 49 and 49A. Other specifications: 12V 2/4x21W. It is made by Daewoo / DECO. The same type of relay is used in the Daewoo Matiz. I picked up a used relay from an old Matiz for 2 euros and the indicator/hazard lights work like a charm again. The whole replacement took about 2 minutes, but it took me days to get the used part. Probably other relays with these three pins will work too: google for "31 49 49A". Hope this is useful to other people who run into problems with the Daewoo Lanos indicator lights!
well rick your mechanic is talking out of his proverbial ,This vehicle comes fitted from new with this size tyre ,its on the certificate of homoglonation .Any attempt to fit larger wheels will quickly wear out the steering joints because it alters the caster /camber/king pin inclination .Also under new europeon legislation you are not allowed to interfere with basics of the vehicle ,that is alter anything that is on the certificate of homoglonation This will render you open to prosecution if stopped by an overzealous essex traffic cop and your vehicle will not pass the MOT ,how do i know a fellow brit??look how you spell tyre??

i have a Daewoo Matiz 2000. It doesn't have Power Steering although other models of Matiz came with Power steering. I want to know if a Power steering can be installed on my Matiz. If so, whom can I contact.
If both indicators and hazard lights are not working, probably the indicator relay is broken. Here is some extra information on replacing the Daewoo Lanos indicator / hazard lights relay.
