Check for a bad head gasket. It can allow coolant to enter a cylinder and then burn off when the engine is started.

yes buit its complicated and could be a number of things, best advice is a dealer because it work out cheaper in the long run that changing parts willi nilly

Could be the choke getting stuck.
Check your distributor cap for any cracks, and they can be very small. I would replace it anyways. It is very typical that they give you trouble in the cold, and work when hot, when they are cracked a little.

Most likely what will need to be done is clean the throttle chamber and have a idle relearn performed. To clean the throttle chamber, it is best to be removed since it's electronic controlled. Then after you have it clean and reinstalled, the idle relearn needs to be done. This can only be done by the Nissan scan tool. So I would recommend taking it to the dealer and let them do it for you. You can damage the electronic throttle chamber very easily if not done properly.

If it comes up as a Crankshaft sensor... Replace it.

you're running rich, the cylinders get flooded with fuel and won't fire. stepping on the gas blows out the excess fuel. take it to the dealer and have the mixture adjusted.
