I have dexcool pooring from the bottom of my 2005 pontiac grand prixs a/c compressor? does the A/C compressor have rad fluid in it?

My belt is smoking and making a real bad noise plus i have dexcool pooring out from the ac compressor. the car will start and drive but like i said a huge noise and because the dexcool is all leaked out it heats fast. i cant see a leak anywhere. what is broke? i know im gunna needa new belt but i think its just the compressor. another thing too. theres no oil in the dexcool when it leaks out so im thinking itsjust the comprssor. thoughts, ideas?

The dexcool isn't coming from the A/C compressor ! More then likely coming from the engine . No the A/C compressor doesn't have coolant in it , has refrigerant ! Sounds to me like your engine has a problem ! Your best bet would be to take it to a qualified repair shop !

Testimonial: "im sure im suppose to write you back here but see the dexcool started leaking when the A/C compressor seized. the engine runs fine no knock tick not a thing. and if it was the engine wouldnt it have engine oil mixed in the dexcool?"

You may have water pump problems , that's near an above the the A/C compressor an runs off the same belt the A/C compressor does ! But I will say for sure no coolant is coming from the compressor ! No , not always would coolant be in the oil > The only way to know where it's coming from is take thing's apart so you can see in there , use a mirror run the vehicle look from under the car ! You have to get in there to see ! But a professional would be able to say right away !Depending where it's coming from could have a soft plug rusted out ! Some people call it a freeze plug !

What's the cause of oil mixing in the radiator on

If you are sure it is mixing in the radiator, the culprit would be the transmission cooler. you should see 2 small steel lines going into the side of the rad. They carry transmission fluid up to be cooled and sometimes the cooling line inside the radiator will rust out. the cure is to replace the rad. Hope this helps.

Pontiac grand prix gt 3800 dexcool leak

Do you see the coolant leaking on the motor? From the drivers side, you can inspect the intake manifold...unfortunately as good as this motor usually is...it is known for leaking at the intake manifold...and requires a new intake gasket...DO NOT USE dexcool after the replacement...many teams believe the dexcool is part of the problem...use the coolant that "For All Coolant Systems" is still the green anti-freeze...Hope this helps.

All antifreeze/coolant has drained from the system. Where is the fill line located on the recovery tank?

Make sure the rad gets filled first then top up reservoir, there should be a mark on the side nearest the belt marked cold.

Is there a specific type of engine coolant for my 2005 grand prix? My mechanic says my coolant needs to be flushed and replaced with the proper type of coolant. There is no rust in my coolant.

Hello restrada.

Your Pontiac original specification calls for Dexcool coolant.
This is an orange colored fluid.
If the green regular type has been added the system should be flushed and refilled with Dexcool.

Just added dexcool, still no heat

i have had the same problem and fond out the belt was to long..... it was for the supercharged V6 and the way it was routed it was running the water pump backwards and putting the right fluid flow through the heater core
