The engine light on means codes have been set. Read the codes and you may find an answer. Many parts stores will read the codes for free.

Vibration

It sounds like it could be an engine misfire. As the engine spins faster and faster that misfire makes itself less apparent. However on stops and low idle speeds it will be very obvious. If the check engine light is on that would also help you narrow down the issue.

After replacing battery in engine off condition, engine idle speed less than400RPM and high vibration. Engine pick up speed as accelerator pressed

Might need an oil change...use a decent grade of oil too. Try Toyota dealer too. They can help out a little clearer.

Car was vibrating slightly when idling or accelerating. Took it to a repair shop and it was diagnosed as cylinder misfire. I had 2 cylinders replaced. When driving home after picking it up, there was...

If you have 25 miles to drive with that serious missfiring going on, I would first try to find a repair shop closer to you. It need not be a Volvo shop. Failing that, I would have it towed. Since the towing distance may be greater than 5 miles, investigate joining a road hazard protection program first (like AAA or others). Once signed up, then have it towed under the new protection. I think you will find it cost effective to do that rather than just calling a tow truck.

The motor shakes in my 960 volvo sedan why could that be

A shaking engine usually is an indicator of an engine missfire. Secondary ignition components are the most common failure (Spark plugs, plug wires, etc..). Less likely, but still a consideration are the fuel system components such as the fuel injectors or filter. Further down the list with a vibration in gear at idle are bad engine mounts. If it worsens with engine load such as acceleration then it is likely the ignition system.
Good luck

Vibration on the floor underneath gas pedal

I would venture to say your exhaust is hitting your frame, or, you may need new motor mounts. The exhaust is what I would lean toward. If you can imagine your exhaust sitting under your vehicle, and the fact that the vehicle has a little age, the motor mounts probably give a little, causing the motor to move slightly on acceleration and deceleration, thus your exhaust is going to move, and may be vibrating on whatever its touching. Good luck.

Volvo 1998 v70 tdi loss of power and a lot of black smoke lamda fuel light has been on since timming belts replaced been told its the turbo pump runnig at half is this possible and where is the turbo pump...

I don't know about the turbo running at half, but I can give you two ideas.

If it only started after the timing belt was replaced there is a very good chance that the timing is off. The car has very specific instructions due to the variable valve timing.

There is also a chance that there is a hole in one of the turbo hoses. One way to check for a leaking turbo hose is to put the car in reverse and set the parking brake. have someone listen for a large air leak while you power stall the engine. if there is a leak it will make a lot of noise and you can feel for it with your hand, just don't burn yourself.

DO NOT POWERSTALL THE ENGINE MORE THAT THIRTY SECONDS AT A TIME AND NO MORE THAN TWICE. IT WILL GET VERY HOT VERY QUICKLY.

DO NOT SHUT OFF THE ENGINE RIGHT AFTER POWERSTALLING. THERE IS TO MUCH HEAT AND COULD CAUSE DAMAGE. LET THE ENGINE IDLE FOR THREE MINUTES AND IT WILL BE FINE.

I hope this helps

Tire Vibration

I have the same issue - but notice its worse when you accelerate hard in 5th. I have changed all the ball joints, bearings and track rod ends but its still there. From trawling the various forums I'm starting to think I need to change the suspension arms and top strut bushes. 100K
