2001 Hyundai xg300...P1632 have replaced the input and output sensors and one of the abs wheel speed sensors. Trans is starting in 2nd gear... limp mode
How do i fix this problem??New pcm???can the short be repaired.. communication error. How do i fix this problem??New pcm???can the short be repaired.. communication error.
It is usually a separate computer from the PCM. The problem is the transmission computer itself something inside malfunction don't know if it can be flashed or needs to be replaced. It is usually a separate computer from the PCM. You are stuck in limp mode the abs computer is not relaying a wheel speed signal to the pcm to tell it what gear to be in you need to have abs system scanned and check codes and the for proper wheel speed signals each wheel has a speed sensor on it . The fact that the insturment panel is not working could be the problem it is a computer that works in conjunction with abs to give input to the pcm. It will have to all start with checking the system for codes to get a proper starting point for diagnotics throwing guesses in the form of parts is only going to complicate the problem of frustration for you.
It depends. Are there codes in the computer now? Has it bee reset since you replaced the input speed sensor? If the codes are still in there, the transmission may still be in limp-in mode.
Your transmission is computer controlled. Trying to diagnose or repair it without the ability to interface with the computer that controls it about the same as surfing the internet with no monitor. If you push the right buttons and click your mouse just right, you might get to the page you are looking for (not likely, but possible). However, when you do get there, you still won't know it....
P0455 = Evap leak monitor large leak detected. This code usually means the gas cap may have been loose or needs the rubber gasket.
P0500 = No vehicle speed sensor signal. Vehicle speed sensor is located on the transmission near one of the axle shafts (it may need replacing).
P0700 = EATX controller DTC present. This simply means you have transmission related codes.
P0732 = Gear ratio error in 2nd gear. This code is of some concern, it means the transmission is slipping in 2nd gear. However the trans may be in limp mode due to the speed sensor code (limp mode means the trans starts out in second gear in order to at least get to a mechanic). The first thing I would do is have these codes cleared as there may be absolutely nothing wrong with the transmission (especially if you pull the trans dip stick and the fluid does not have a burnt smell. The vehicle should drive normally after that. If the check engine light comes back, have the codes scanned ASAP (before any other unrelated code sets). Chances are it may be the output speed sensor if this happens (easy fix). Hope this helps
Hi The speed sensor is on the transmission. It is under the air cleaner box. The input and output sensors are located there too. They are attached by one bolt each and one electrical connection. The input sensor in nearer the front of the car and the output about 7 inches behind the input sensor.
I have this car and had the same problem. Trans slams int 3rd from 5th gear and wont come out. First Pull the codes out of he computer. My problem was solved by replacing both the input and output speed sensors on the transmission. Simple exterior sensor replacement. Good luck
I had the same problem, I first replace the output speed sensor, no fix, then the input sensor. Both located under air filter box. Easier to get to all the screws if you remove the battery. Input sensor is facing forward towards the frond end. The output sensor is under the cables linkage, which is directly under the air box facing the firewall.
Probably not a fluid issue. If the fluid is close to right, a little more or less won't matter. Is the speedometer working? If the speedo quits its because the trans output speed sensor has failed. This will cause the trans to lock into limp home mode. I've had good luck in these cases by buying the sensor (about $25) and put it in to see if it fixes the problem. $25 is a cheap experiment. The output speed sensor is very near the passenger side CV joint. Btw the trans and the firewall. Hard to reach. Easy to change. If the speedo is working the problem isn't the output sensor. Maybe the input speed sensor.
you need to get the diagnostic codes to determine why its in 2nd gear (limp-in). it can be numerous things..anything from a input or output speed sensor to a serious internal trans problem.
