My 2002 Isuzu Rodeo only starts in Neutral. How can this be fixed?

It will only start in Neutral. I was told by a guy doing an oil change in Walamrt that it is a shifter bushing and easy to fix. What needs to be done? Also I get a gasoline smell sometimes when I am driving but not always. I don't overfill the tank and don't see any leaks.

If it's an automatic then the shifter is not going all the way into park to activate the neutral safety switch ( miss adjusted or worn bushing most likely) or possibly a bad safety switch.

Testimonial: "Thank you! If both of these things need to be replaced is it a very costly repair and will it take long? I have no back-up vehicle."

How to change and add transmission fluid on my Isuzu rodeo 4 w , 2002

My friend had the exact same car and problem. I am not positive as this is just heresay from him, but he told me that he had to take it to a dealership garage, because there is a special tool they use to pump the fluid in. He said they told him that isuzu didnt want consumers doing maintenance only their garages, but you probably can find the truth by calling your nearest isuzu or import dealership. Good Luck!!

2000 isuzu Rodeo wont start

Could be your neutral safety switch, or it's not all the way in park. Broken or loose wires in the starting circuit. Inspect all wires and connectors at the battery, starter solenoid, and ignition switch. Or your starter pinion is jammed in the ring gear. Remove starter and inspect. Last but not least, your engine is seized. You don't want that one. Good luck.

Knocking when started, noise disappears in higher gears.

try an oil change my brothers isuzu used to do that and he did an oil change resulting in a fix. If it gets worse you could have a piston shoot through the oil pan.

Engine knock dont know i f it's a lifter or oil pump

The firing timing is too advance or too retarded. When you accelerate the engine, if it loses power and knock, the timing is retarded and if it accelerate quickly and knock then the timing is advace.
