A proper tech diagnosis is needed here. If the recall was to fix the defective ignition switch, and it worked fine up until now, i imagine you got a really bad deal from your dealer. I would definitely call the shop where you had work recently performed to see if they will help you out. They might actually come and tow your car back to get the job done right if you play your cards right.
Do a little research on the ignition switch problem online. There are a few repair kits out there that actually work better than the dealer parts. saturnfans.com has he recall topic on their front page.
Yea I have problems with my ignition too. I was assuming the it was just because I brought the car used. My ignition has a habit of staying on when you shut the engine off. This lets the battery light stay on in the dashboard and I've had my battery run down and everything. so finally fed up,I went to my mechanic and they said I need a new ignition, but I had no idea others complained about the very same thing!i wish they would fix that so I didn't have to shell out money on too of that too. Hope you find a solution to your prom ken soon...
The coolant temp sensor could cause the problems. If the sensor says the coolant is 15 degrees several things would happen. The only way to know is to be able to attack it when it happens which would be hard to predict. You could replace the sensor but may never know if it is fixed or not. The check engine light should have come on when that code was set.
sounds like trans cooler in radiator has breached leaking coolant into trans and trans into coolant.i know for sure that nissan extended the warranty on radiator for this problem.i am not sure the mileage and time limits.but if you fall within those limits they should also warrant the trans as this would be the source of failure(collateral damage).good luck and remember the squeaky wheel gets the grease!1-800-nissan1.ecm relay would not be a contributing factor.
I've had my 2005 Grand Cherokee into the dealer 5 times for the same issue and they've replaced a bunch of stuff, but have not found the problem yet. A quick fix, I've found, is to jiggle the key in the ignition. Doesn't fix the problem, but it does stop everything from going crazy! Let me know if anyone has the actual fix.
Hi,
I think you must be having an ignition switch issue here. You might need to see an electrician for this as it might be a little bit complicated to test and instructions over the net could be confusing and may lead to other damage.

The problem is in the ignition - the grease gets thick in the cold and doent turn quite right the first time. everything turns on, but the anti theft system thinks you have the wrong key so shuts off pwer to the starter. it takes 8-10 mintues to reset. That is why it normally starts when you come back later. I have had the same problem and done tons of reseach. Right now my temp solution has been a small heater and an extention cord. I keep it plugged in over night on a medium setting - just enough to keep the inside temp above freezing. I am also researching remote starts because saturn dealership charges $250 to replace the ignition, and a remote start will run about $300. Saturn wont do a recall because they feel it is not a safety hazard. I say that is bull. Good luck!
call the reimbursement department so they can start a recall...
1800-204-0261 we have the same promblem and they wont do a recall
unless they get more complaints!!
