Honda Accord 98 EX coupe - 3L V6 starting problem

I Have a Honda Accord 98 EX coupe with a 3L V6 Engine. I have a starting problem and it usually happens when I try to start the car shortly after driving it for a while. my mechanic told me that the engine coil needs to be replaced and it will cost $700 for the part + $150 for the labour. I wanna make sure that this is what causing the problem and also that the amount of money he is asking me for is fair for such a job. any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

I would take the vehicle to a different shop.
You can go to Autozone , They can scan the vehicle for free. There maybe a codes stored and auto zone can tell you what the code means. You can also check the price of ignition coils with them. The price the shop is asking is rediculous . I am guessing a coil should not be no more then 100.00 and labor time 1.5 hours with diagnosis time. I think you can get an estimate for repairs at Pep boy for a lot less. Good Luck .

Its the electrical part of the ignition switch. i had to replace it on my 99 accord, its something really simple. just look it up on google. get the name of the part that is making your car shut off and also making it hard to turn on. goto autozone get the part and replace it.
