Check if the fuel pump is well positioned, if so then remove the fuel host after the fuel pump to see if the fuel will come up.

LOTS
. it the 4.2L, has mech pump you said.
the 1990 with ONLY the 4.2L engine had a CARB
its the CARB from H3LL too. if you read the book on it.? yet, the FSM online??

so what is fuel pressure, we check that first.
3-5psi is SPEC. (100% mech. cam driven pump)
its an old car and as such (we are blind here)
has or may have the pump replaced with non stock pumps. MODs' id need follow that carb fuel line
to its source. sure would on all 1990 cars.
is it still stock, id be thinking.>??>?????

the carb from H3ll is an electronic controlled carb
yes, it really is that, and has a ECU like brain.
it controls carb, chock and spark.
but seems no elect. the pump..... the pump is still relic style.
many cars were upgraded to elect. pumps , done many my self. (ends vapor lock ! done right)

is cam driven fuel pump, like pappi's cars.

I disconnected the fuel line going to the carborator at the fuel pump. Still no fuel. I Made sure that the cam was under the arm in the correct position when reinstalling the pump.

Is there any thing between the fuel pump and the gas tank that could cause an obstruction

Thanks
Danny

ok it is the 4.2L ,why not learn whats under the hood or post photos. and say it.
when did car last run right, last decade?
when?, after all fuel goes bad.
is that a new pump there,? must we guess that too? if its old pump then its bad.
if it cant suck fuel and self prime its bad pump. (all diaphram pumps can self prime)
(tank line good, and gas good , cap OFF)
does pump prime cap off? tank?

so what does it take to get pressure off any mech, pump?
well the cam must spin and move the part seen below. does cam spin?
the tank line must be free, we take off gas cap (whoooossshhhh)
oops wrong cap there and was under a vacuum
daH, get a new cap and correct cap or the vents are blocked.

we blow air back down the fuel line to see if its free to flow air. (tank filter blocked)
its just 3 parts, a line, pump and a line.
if the suck line can suck fuel then it blocked.
if the pump primes and will not do spec pressure then
the pump is bad or the lever not moving.

Fuel filter location

there is no external fuel filter on your jeep, in 1997 they changed the design and put a filter sock over the fuel pump intake in the fuel tank. they only get changed when you end up replacing the fuel pump

Replaced fuel pump and it keeps popping out why?2003 jeep wrangler

Does it lose power under acceleration? When you changed the pump did you change the strainer also? You should change the fuel filter if you have not done so. The other thing to check would be the fuel pressure regulator.

I have a 83 model j10 jeep. i put new fuel pump on and i cannot get it to pump. i looked but cannot see a filter between tank and fuel pump.

Can't remember if yours is carbureted...if it is, the filter should be in the line between the pump and carb, or right inside the carb inlet. If it is a mechanical pump, a rusted feed line can cause it to **** air and not allow the fuel to be pumped. An obstructed pickup in the tank can do that as well.

Tp fuel pumps from same year different wireing

What you brought is an tank and unit from 1995 JGC. from 1993 till 1995 they have the same fuel pump. 96'er Jeeps start with OBD - Systems and they have other fuel pumps. You can't change the plug ins, because you may have other fuel filter in your Granny. Check filter and fuel lines if they fit with the unit you brought. If not, you need another unit from a real 96'er Jeep

Is there a sensor on the transmission that will cause the fuel pump to loose prime.having trouble starting, having to pump the carb forever to get it to start.

Pumping these new vehicles does nothing. Have your coolant temp sensor and intake air sensors checked. They set up the fuel system like a chok on an older vehicle.. If you question your fuel system, change the fuel filter, but no, the trans has nothing to do with your fuel.. Good Luck-Ned-

1990 Buick Century,F.I. was dirty, car ran rough, son, trying to help sprayed carb cleaner on what he thought was a carb, not running at the time, now it needs to be primed to start, can l do anything ?

he was spraying into a throttle body that consists of an injector(TBI). these cars suffer terribly from EGS(ethanol gas syndrome). Do these simple steps. First; change out fuel filter(buy 2 of these-get the cheapest ones you kind find). Buy a can of SEAFOAM when you get the filters. You need to fill tank with as much Premium fuel as you can.

Change out filter, add SF to gas. Keep car running at least 5 minutes on as steady an idle as you can. Drive car hard for at least 2-3 miles. When you get it home; change out fuel filter again.

The fuel and the emission systems should start to get better. One other thing: buy a new PCV valve(probably cost4-6 bucks) replace it also.

Clean out air filter or replace. Do not!, use carb cleaner or ether again. This should be helpng the cleansing process by now. Your car is full of corn liquor by-product and excessive amounts of water. It's in your fuel; your emission systems and your TBI. Your pump may be filled with it, and not have enough Psi to allow the pump to pump properly. In extreme cases, we've had to replace pump, remove fuel tank and clean it.

When this is all done, always add SFoam every 3-5000 miles to prevent this from happening again.

And at times; the crank/cam sensor has to be replaced.

I don't know how much this car is worth to you, but this is simplier than buying an engine.

The worst case I've seen is the ethanol burns a valve and it has to be rebuild. So try this, I think you can rescue it. Good Luck.

The thing to do now is a fuel pressure test pump could be weak just a few pounds under the recamended pressure will do that weather its mechanical or electrical . Is there a filter in the carb. wear fuel fine hooks? If none of this is an issue at least you can eliminate fuel deliverly as the problem.

1989 jeep grand wagoneer--no gas getting to carb.--

That may be right - no gas in the carb is likely a bad fuel pump, or a clogged fuel filter.
