Changed the fuel pump on 2002 rendezvous and battery radio is locked and car won't start

Do you mean 2002 buick rendezvous ? Did you test fuel pump electrical circuit ? Also if the PCM - engine computer doesn't see an input from crankshaft position sensor it won't energize the fuel pump relay . GM Fuel Pump Relay Testing

Sounds like maybe the main computer is bad. When you cranked the engine there is not any indication that it is firing. If you have changed the fuel pump and coil and it still wont even fire, the computer is most likely the cause. Even if the timming was off you would still get some indication that it was trying to start although it probably would not if the timming was off, but the fact it's not even trying to fire yeah that's my take.

still won't crank ? how's your battery ? starter ? starter solonoid ? if your engine does'nt crank , its dead ! would'nt you check the battery first ? then move on with checking the starter circuit ? seems like your putting the cart before the horse ! first of all, when you run out of gas, you need to replace the FUEL FILTER, your engine just sucked the dirt, garbage, etc., out of the tank. there's plenty of sediment in the tank, don't know how it gets there, but, you'd be surprized ! talking threw experience !!! I operate heavy equipment, its a cardinal sin to run out of fuel !!! you say you replaced the inline filter, which one, up by the engine or the main filter, under vehicle along frame ? are we talking about the same animal, PLEASE CLARIFY !

Check by the fuel tank


Have someone turn the key on
& listen for fuel pump

Put a pressure gauge on the motor
at fuel rail & check pressure

Pump only runs for 3 sec, if you got no crank signal
or it fails to start

Have to cycle key

Try start the car again when it is completely dry, if it starts the rain may be short circuiting something on the loom in the engine bay.

If it still wont start,

will it turn over? (car tries to start)
- If it wont turn over the battery would be dead

- If it turns over but wont burst into life then we can go from there ^_^

Done cars have a kill switch if they are low on oil. Check your oil. If the oil is good, it may be the ignition switch.

If the engine fires up for a second or two with starting fluid then the fuel pump is weak.I would check the fuel pressure and if its not within the specs then replace the pump and filter.

Try checking the oil first. The low oil sensor will disable the ignition if more than a quart low.

Battery may be good but the termanals may need to be clean of corrosion. This means scraping the inside of the cable ends as well as cleaning the posts. Also remove the cable ends that connect to thecables and clean the cable copper and inside of ends. Just because you have dash lights does not mean enough juice is there for the starting.
