2005 envoy drivers door wont open from inside or outside

Power window works but makes a scratching noise, power door locks work on all other doors, how do I get the door open?

Perhaps a catastrophic failure of the door catch or perhaps the power window is misaligned and wiped out the door linkages.

Either way you need to examine the inside of the door to determine the fault and open the door. This will mean removing the door interior trim panel or at least partially removing it.
It might be necessary to remove the seat or both seats to gain sufficient access.

Linda, The door latch linkage is probably damaged or fallen off inside the door. Pop into a good body shop and have them check the door lock/latch mechanism for you. The body shop rates tend to be more reasonable then dealership for this type of repair. Links below are just to give you an idea of what may be involved in repair.

Sounds like the lock mechanism is stuck on the locked position. Since you didn't specify make and model this is a best guess. Make sure the lock is in the unlock position and try manipulating the rod connected to the outside handle (since child lock is on the inside handle won't work)

Won't open from outside? Won't open from inside? Equipped with power door locks? IF so, and won't open inside/outside, suspect stuck power door lock actuator. Sometimes working the lock/unlock button will make the door unlock. If not, the door will require disassembly from inside to determine what the failure may be. If the door needs disassembly while in the closed position, the paneling/clips may get damaged FYI

Why wont windows and lock work? could it be the front ecu?
Check inside of door where wiring comes thru for broken wires ,ECU doesn't control windows or door locks. You didn't state what model vehicle you own. But opening and closing door on drivers side causes broken wires on numerous vehicles over the years, most makes and models. Split boot and check all wires inside for breakage.

Power window open partially with inside or outside
inside the mechanical lock (The part that actualy holds the door shut when you close it) there is a switch that informs the control unit that the lock is either locked or unlocked.
These switches fail sometimes, when this happens the control unit is not aware that you have opened the door, and therefor will not wind the window down slightly.
The switch is integral with the lock unit, and they are not easy things to replace either.

Door locked, from inside and out
sounds as if the door latch may be too far in causing this to UN open if you can understand that try pushing against the door and allowing someone else to work the door handle just trying to relieve the pressure a if you manage to open the door , readjust the door striker bolt as well as lubricate the lock ,otherwise remove the window completely so you wont break it while working on the door latch from inside the vehicle are all the linkages still connected ? try lubricating the lock latch as well it can be a pain but if you are patient enough you can get the door to release if and when you do remove the screws and linkages to the lock and remove and either replace or clean the latch itself and oil it good work it by hand a dozen times to ensure the working lock itself then when your confident it is working replace it and reverse method to reinstall

Drivers side door wont open from inside, window problems
It is most likely a rod has fallen off inside the door. You may have to use a coat-hanger to read down inside and pull back on door latch to open it up.
Then after it is opened, remove screws on inner door panel, remove window/lock controls, take a big flat-head screwdriver and gently pry next to the plastic tabs holding on door panel. Remove door panel and put window back on track , and replace or reattach door handle rods.

Have a 2004 avalanche locking problem
There is a button on the drivers side control panel on the door, where the power window controls are at.. This button is square and it controls the door locks in the back so, young kids can't accidentally open the door. Pressing this button should solve your problem. Good Luck

There is NOT a mechanical connection to the outside door handles on the front doors. There is an electronic "door popping solenoid" This is a electronic problem. I think there was a recall on this.

I have a similar problem. The remote sometimes opens all doors, and other times it will only open the 2 rear doors. Once inside the vehicle, the driver side window controls intermittently operates all windows and doors. It has no effect on the 2 rear doors, as the window controls still work. This behavior happens intermittently while driving the vehicle.
