If the pump is operating correctly then you should be able to cycle the key 2-3 times and it will prime the lower and upper filter. after fuel filter change it may take a few times of cranking the engine over to get all of the air out of the lines. also try leaving the key in the run position for a few min. it should prime just fine like i said as long as the pump is operating properly. if you ran it out of fuel it will take a very long time to crank and prime the vehicle without the correct 6.0L fuel adapters.

Not to be a jerk, but you look in the manual. If you don't have one, you order one from any number of online suppliers who will sell you one. I did that for my 2003 Chevy Silverado pickup. If you're going to keep the car, you will eventually need it anyway. . .

My 2005 ford explorer sport trac will start but sputters and dies

One possible reason is a clogged fuel filter. You can check the fuel filter by blowing air through the "in" end. If no or little air is coming through, then you should replace the filter.

I cannot find Fuel filter for Ford Edge 2010 and a mechanic told me this model has a permanent fuel filter that doesn't need to be replaced. Is that right?

Yes. The only filter in the fuel line is now in the gas tank.

Where is the fuel filter located on my 2005 focus zx3

If you are thinking in a replacement, remember the position the fuel filter into the bracket. Ensure the fuel flow direction is properly aligned:
  1. Install and tighten the fuel pump bracket bolt.
  2. Lubricate the fuel tube fittings with clean engine oil. Align the fuel tube fittings and press together until a click is heard and then pull on the fittings to make sure they are fully engaged.
  3. Start the engine and check for leaks.
