What's wrong with my ABS?

I bought this truck and replace the ABS block on it. Also replace the brake lines the wheel sensors the break bleeder's I had the brakes bled and the ABS block hooked up to a computer to make sure that there is no air in it. I'm still getting the ABS light also when I get to slow speeds the brake pedal pulsates and I have no brakes but it's random . I could be going at high speeds and hit the brakes and be fine but occasionally it slow speeds the petals all say and you can feel the ABS kick in. Why is this

Random would be a broken wire. Read the codes to see which side. GM put hard plastic coverings over the wheel sensor wires. Follow it back, while bending and see where it is broken. Most likely the wire is broke there also. It could be several places in the harness.

No brake pressure...

I would keep bleeding. If there is not any brake fluid leaking, there must be air in the system. with the master cyl cap off, open one bleeder valve on the front and let it bleed for 10 mins. close and repeat with the rest. there must be an air bubble in the system! good luck

Anti lock brake light is on

Hello,
Here are 3 common causes for the ABS light to be on.
1. Low brake fluid. ( make sure the brake fluid isn't low.)
2. A faulty wheel speed sensor. ( you should have the four wheels checked. )
3. Your pads need to be replaced. ( once the pads are worn down to a certain level, it will cause the ABS light to come on.

I hope this helps you.

I have a 1993 Grand Am I bought for my daughters 1st car. It is in good shape but I am bewildered by a brake problem. I replaced the pads (both sides) and the right rotor and caliper as the caliper was...

The ABS releases pressure to avoid lock up. Check right by the master cylinder just past the point where the lines split to go to each wheel. If you have fluid coming out then check for a crimp in the line going to the right caliper. You never know if a backyard mechanic bent it while working on it before you bought it. It is 17 years old so not out of the range of possibilities. If it appears damaged at all buy a new line and replace the old one.You don't need the exact one from the dealer. Rent a tubing bender and a crimper and run a new line or replace just the damaged section. If it is the ABS parts are likely becoming scarce unless Pontiac used the same set-up on newer cars. You can check an interchange manual at the library if you don't have one, but the dealer can probably tell you if parts are available. I don't recommend used unless it is your only choice as it is likely to be in roughly the same shape as the one you have.

My speedmeter only works for about a half mile then the abs light and the tc light comes on and my speed meter stops working.i had a speed sensor put in and its still not working

The correct scan tool with tell you the specific issue with you ABS & TC system, AKA EBTCS, or electronic brake & traction control system. This computer system reads the speed of each wheel by sensor and magnet wheel.
If you had it scanned & replaced the sensor that was bad, then remove the wheel and take out the sensor by hand. Look in the hole in the wheel hub and inspect the wheel magnets for any damage or corrosion. This can be replaced if damaged. Apply a small amount of bearing grease to sensor and reinstall.
If your scan shows a comunication problem with the control module, then it can be easily removed and repaired for under $200 at modulemaster.com
Air or contamination in the brake system can also cause an issue. Bleeding the ABS module takes a command from a scan tool, and it will pump for 10 seconds. Make sure you have a bleeder open on one of the calipers. Then bleed out all the brakes by pumping the pedal and hold, then release pressure in line by unscrewing bleeder screw and closing it after 2 seconds, then release brake. Repeat a few times, and listen for air bubbles to go away, if any.
Good Luck!

1989 G20 Van right front brake is locking up when applied. Calipers replaced. Did not fix problem.

The piston is binding in the wheel brake cylinder, perhaps a bit of rust in the cylinder.
Inspect it, replace wheel brake piston and maybe the cylinder if you can't make it "smooth".

Bad brakes on gmc suburban, replaced master cylinder, rear wheel cylinder and abs control module, bled system, still have spongy brakes and ABS come on right before it gets stopped.

Gravity bleed your brakes starting at the wheel farthest from the master cylinder. No pweddle pumping. I Fill M/C and leave cover off. Then open the bleeder and watch what is coming out. Uou can see bubbles. When the fluid drips steady and without bubbles, cole and do the same to the other three. Don't let the master cykinder get low because thr fluid level helps move the fluid and air through the lines.Periodically tap the break lone with your wrench to keep everything moving.. When sll bleeders drip clean and steady. Make sore your rear brakes are adjusted to barely touch the drum. Then top off the master cylinder, cap it and give yourself a "break". :)

Spongy brakes

Does sound like you need a new master cylinder. On a 2000 you wont need to back bleed. You will just need to follow the instruction and bleed the master and all four points. you will probably need to bleed the ABS block and proportioning valve but only if they have bleeders on them.

ABS hazard light is on , what should I check ?

Almost nothing! ABS warning lights first require an ABS code scan to find a starting point for vehicle service. Most of the ones I scan have wheel speed sensor failures, but sometimes those failures are caused by the sensors becoming disconnected from the system. Sometimes road debris will break a sensor wire, socket or other component close to the wheel. 96 Taurus will have a sensor for each front wheel which requires sensor wiring to each wheel as well, find the sensor wire (it will be a twisted pair of wires running to the wheel hub) follow it to the hub and make sure it's connected, look at the sensor and make sure it's not damaged. Do this at each wheel. If it has 4 wheel antilock brakes, there will be a sensor at each rear wheel as well, check them all. If you decide to remove wheels, be sure to properly support the vehicle with safety stands before you get underneath the vehicle. A jack is NOT a safe support while any part of your body is in danger from being crushed by the vehicle. If you do remove wheels, do a thorough brake inspection while the wheels are off. Check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder, look for brake fluid leakage everywhere there are hydraulic lines or hoses, check the lining thicknesses of the disc brake pads and drum brake shoes. If you can't find an obvious mechanical failure, it's time for an ABS diagnostic. However if you find a visual sensor problem, and you successfully correct it, the ABS light will go off, after the system self test completes. Usually the system self test completes in 3 to 10 seconds. Here's another thing to keep in mind: The wheel speed sensors are sensitive enough to trigger the light due to a severely low tire. They also can detect a tire size mismatch so if you've replaced a tire lately pay attention to the size designations, they must match!
