Turn ignition to run engine off. Display OIL LIFE RESET in the Driver Information Center (DIC). Press and hold the ENTER button for at least one second. An ACKNOWLEDGED’ display message will appear for three second or until the next button is pressed. This will tell you the system has been reset. Turn the key to OFF. If the “CHANGE ENGINE OIL” message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

Hello, I can help you with this. Turn the ignition on, but don't start the engine. Press the "Menu" button on your driver information center repeatedly until "Oil Life" is displayed. Press and hold the "Enter" button until you see the word" Acknowledged". Turn the ignition off and remove the key.

2 things to try depending on which system you have , While the vehicle is in Park, you need to hold down "info" and the enter (<-) key for a few seconds.. that will bring you into advanced options.. I believe oil reset is the first option that will show up. Just select that and it'll revert back to 100%. If that doesn't work on your car , then do this Most GM cars reset oil life meter by Key ON and depress the gas pedal 3 times in succession

My pontiac g6 2007 says the oil is at 20% what does this mean

That is your Oil Life indicator. That means that is is almost time for an oil change. If your oil has recently been changed, then it was not reset when the oil was changed.

This information is covered in the Owner's Manual for your vehicle on page 211.

With the "CHANGE OIL SOON" message displayed, press any of the three DIC buttons to clear the "CHANGE OIL SOON" message. Display "OIL LIFE RESET" on the DIC. Press and hold the "ENTER" button for at least one second. An "ACKNOWLEDGED" display message will appear for three seconds or until the next button is pressed. This will tell you the system has been reset. Turn the ignition to "OFF". If the "CHANGE OIL SOON" message comes back on when you start your vehicle, the engine oil life system has not reset. Repeat the procedure. on the 3.5 liter you have a dipstick near fire wall

Change Oil Soon light won't go off even after changing the oil.

You are able to reset it. The directions are in your manual:

1. press the options button under the screen utnil ENGINE OIL MONITOR appears on the DIC screen

2. Press the set/reset button to reset the system

The next screen indicates that the engine oil monitor system has been reset.

If the message is still on...try steps again
