It should be located under the dash on the driver's side. It will be wired into the ignition switch.

1998 Mazda Soho 121, 1.3.How to bypass ignition when I lost a key

You can't, because the vehicle has an alarm and engine immobilizer that are all computer controlled by ECM, BCM and anti-theft module..

When the car was new, it came with 2 operational keys and 1 Valet key. The idea is that when you lose key 2, or you buy a car with one key, you have another made. You need an auto-locksmith for two new keys and programming.

The only mentions of hotwiring are people here on Fixya.

Replaced sterring colum now it wont start

S (Nissan Vehicle Immobilizer System-NATS) has the following immobilizer functions: Since only NVIS (NATS) ignition keys, whose ID nos. have been registered into the ECM and IMMU of NVIS (NATS), allow the engine to run, operation of a stolen vehicle without a NVIS (NATS) registered key is prevented by NVIS (NATS). That is to say, NVIS (NATS) will immobilize the engine if someone tries to start it without the registered key of NVIS (NATS). All of the originally supplied ignition key IDs have been NVIS (NATS) registered. If requested by the vehicle owner, a maximum of five key IDs can be registered into the NVIS (NATS) components. The security indicator lamp blinks when the ignition switch is in "OFF" or "ACC" position. Therefore, NVIS (NATS) warns outsiders that the vehicle is equipped with the system. When NVIS (NATS) detects trouble, the security indicator lamp lights up while ignition key is in the "ON" position. NVIS (NATS) trouble diagnoses, system initialization and additional registration for other NVIS (NATS) ignition key IDs must be carried out using CONSULT-II hardware and CONSULT-II NVIS (NATS) software. Regarding the procedures for NVIS (NATS) initialization and NVIS (NATS) ignition key ID registration, refer to CONSULT-II OPERATION MANUAL IVIS/NVIS. When servicing a malfunction of the NVIS (indicated by lighting up of Security Indicator Lamp) or registering another NVIS ignition key ID no., it is necessary to re-register original key identification. Therefore, be sure to receive ALL KEYS from vehicle owner. System Composition NIEL0174 The immobilizer function of the NVIS (NATS) consists of the following: NVIS (NATS) ignition key NVIS (NATS) immobilizer control unit (IMMU) located in the ignition key cylinder ECM Security indicator lamp.

2000 volkswagen beetle has trouble starting. Warning Light came on showing a key. battery is fine and alternater is good. could the key need to be programed again for the computer system?

You have an electronic immobilizer key recognition problem. Your key chip is not recognized by the transponder antenna fitted on the ignition switch barrel. Do you have this warning symbol lightning on the dashboard?

This warning lamp indicates that the engine is locked by the immobilizer system, and the engine start sequence must be repeat again.

From year 1995 in Audi-VW (VAG) cars is used engine immobilizer. The VAG group immobilizer system consists of an immobilizer ECU which controls the recognition of keys and the Engine Management ECU system. Immobilizer is activated when the ignition key is removed and, together with the engine control unit, largely prevents unauthorized starting of the engine. The system uses a transmitter and receiver unit in the ignition key (transponder). Whenever an attempt is made to start the engine, it transmits a new code to the car's electronics. The immobilizing is only cancelled and car motor electronic receives permission to start engine if the key sends a right authorization code.

Use another ignition key that you have, and start the engine.

You will need to programm all ignition keys using suitable diagnostic equipment (VAS, VAG-Com) connected to the data link connector of the car.

Lost my main set for a Mazda 323 (1999). Located the spare set, which starts the car, but the immobilizer kicks in. Is there a way of pairing my key to the car, or disconnecting the immobilizer, or is this...

The spare key is the valet key, You can call the dealer and have them cut you new keys for you car. You will need the VIN number and your registration for the car. If it doesn't have chip in it, they can make it for you in a couple of minutes. If it has the chip in it, they will have to order it. Without the chip, the key will cost between $20 and $30 dollars.

On a 2000 2.0 beetle the motor stops right after start. What could be the problem

If your car starts and after a second it would shut off, your problem is from the immobilizer transponder. Try the second key fob see if still acts up. What happens is that the immobilizer fails to recognize the key the first few tries and cuts the ignition off. It's a sign you will need to replace the instrument cluster where the immobilizer control module is located. Your old set of keys will have to be reprogrammed to match up with the new cluster. Also if you want to match the odometer reading to the new one, it has to be done before the reading reaches 100mi. After that it would be burned in starting 100mi and can't alter the reading.

Rating my suggestion let's me know how helpful it was. It only takes a little of your time to do so. Thank you.
