Good day, south african ford focus 2.0 tdci si powershift diesel engine

The timing must be done properly or it will never run or you could dame the engine again.when this happens it can create internal damge. there are. many videos on doing this for your car you did not state what year it was so i did not know which video you needed to do this job. is all is ok with engine no cracked or holes in pistons valves do this check your cam/s for bad spots also but most likely the timing is not set right and will need to be redone in the proper way.

Timing belt how do I put on timing marks without belt

Impossible to guess your mystery vehicle!! Edit to add
2003 Ford Focus 2.0 sohc

Google

year make model replace timing belt

and look at the videos

number 1 cylinder at TDC, line up mark on crankshaft pulley and the marker. Line up the marks on the cam sprockets and slip the belt on. Apply the tensioners. Check marks again. Turn engine 4 full revolutions carefully by hand.

Here is a video. One further tip, post your followups or comments below the person you are addressing, in this case me, by clicking comment under my post. This bit up top is for asking for further information only. Welcome to the site.

Your Ford Focus has a non-interference engine, so you can turn the cam to line up the marks.

98 Tiburon I changed timing belt but now it won't start and backfires when trying to crank any ideas

This is a interference engine, meaning if the belt slipped or broke it's likely some valves got bent and you'll need a valve job. If the belt was changed as part of the maintenance schedule and now backfires double check the timing marks sometimes there are marks on the crank or cam sprockets that look like the marks but aren't, also if you turned the sprockets too far when installing the belt valve damage may occur. I hope this helps. Take care.

My cam belt snapped on my 1.6 focus can you tell me how i know when my pistons are tdc

take the no1 spark plug out and use a long thin screwdriver ,or look on the bell housing and their are marks in a hole with the wide mark/tooth is TDC the cams have a flat on the back of the cam that has to level with the head face use a length of flat steel ,i use a old handleless file .Then i remove the lower metal plate on the back of the sump/bellhousing and jam a big screwdriver into the ringear and then with help tighten front pulley to 120 lbs or it will slip and crunch the valves again ,i do this with the cam caps undone so if it slips i dont crunch the valves ,then tighten cam caps and refit the belt .

Diagram for timming belt on 2002 ford focus 2.0ltr

there isnt marks!the cam pulleys have do nothing with timing!remove the valve cover and see in the other end of the camshafts and find two eccentric cuts!turn the crankshaft to the top dead point on the cylinder 1 the two cuts must be in the same line on the upper or lower side.you need aspecial tool to lock the camshafts and another to lock the crankshaft!this is the timing procedure!now you can change anything you want!note!the cam pulleys are conejointed to the camshafts!no marks no pins no safe pins etc.isnt difficult but complicated simple!

Timing belt slipped on 2003 1.6 focus need the timing marks

there are no timing marks as such on the focus mate you have to lock the cams with a setting bar (to do this you need to remove the rocker cover and lock the cams with a locking bar)
the crank is locked up by removing a plug behind the oil pump on the back of the engine (the crank needs to be at top dead center on number 1 cylinder and this can be done by removing number 1 spark plug and using a long piece of welding wire or screwdriver, place in to the cylinder and turn over until the piston is at the top)
with the cams locked and the crank locked your engine will be timed up
please let me know if this has been of any help
cheers
big mike :)

We change the cambelt and something very wrong happened, after putting everything together and starting the car.. it sound really wierd and the car is shaking. Probably the geerwheels are in wrong...

put number one cyl to tdc take out plug put long screwdriver down to check this if you are not sure /check marks on cam pulleys are correct at this point you need to use locking tool to hold pulleys still .if used before you would not have had a problem re fit belt tension turn over 2 times re check marks re check belt tension should be ok now unless valve has got bent moral always lock the camshafs on twin cam engines

Focus timing belt replacement.

This is a very very easy timing belt setup. first off you have to remove the valve cover. Then you have to remove the serp belt. Then remove anything thats in your way of the front cover. after you remove the crank pulley re-install the crank bolt. DO NOT LOSEN THE BOLT FOR THE TENSIONER!!!! now spin the crankshaft until the sproket aligns with the timing mark. now at this point the two camshafts should be aligned. now there is a special tool from ford that holds the cam shafts in place. all it is is a 1/4" peice of metal that goes on the left side of the cam shafts to hold them into place. if you mark the cams you wont need the tool. or if you can find something to fit in the left side of the cams that will work too. anyways after that its just the same steps in reverse. very easy to do.
