Where is the tail light/parking light fuse located?

You can find the fuse box either under the Driver's side of the dashboard or in the Engine compartment.

You can also go to your local Public Library and Search for a Chilton's Auto Repair Manual for Toyota Cressida 1989 (I think they share this manual with the Corolla model). It's free, with your library card, and this will get you a wiring diagram. What else shares the brake fuse (like hazard lights, turn signals). Make sure that whatever circuit sharing that fuse also works. Your brake switch located behind the brake pedal is a quick fix.

Bypass the fuse? Bypassing a fuse is a fire hazard in the first place. When they worked on that everything should work normally plus the added feature. Not compromising anything. Take it back there and have it done properly or put it back the way it was, and have it done somewhere else. You work hard for your money so you deserve a good job on your car.

brown wire is your park LT yellow Left-turn green right-turn. Now the break light my be on it own wire it is red black is ground. but if you have a test light see if the brown wire turns on the test LT when you turn on the park LT or what wire light up when you step on the break pedal. and so on.

Do you have a trailer light harness on this car? Sounds like the rear light harness has been shorted somewhere. Take a look for damaged wires under the rear bumper cover. Also look for wire harness damage in the rear hatch area, like something slid hitting the harness. Do you live where there are pack rats? The short could also be up front. Has the car been in a fender bender?
