Head lights work
takes no key at all to make HL work
do they,???????????
if not you blew a main fuse, if the battery is new, and charged.? 12.6v dc rested.?
if the battery was installed backwards, oops....a....daisy....boom.

im sure something has power, but if wrong
then you blew up many fuses....
this is a easy find, total deads are,....
so easy.
5 min work with a volt meter, and bingo.
click TJ at 1st link below, then wiring, bingo
posted over 300 times. now......

there are 8 main fuse, how'd you blow 8, ive no clue.?
the must easy path on all cars is head lamps.
but fuse 10 runs head lamps via a circuit breaker
Fuse 10 is hot all the time.
if that's hot and fuse cb is hot, the Heads work.
8w-50 page, covers that. Cb=circuit breaker.

my guess battery in backwards but head lights work backwards, but not much else.
do parking lamps work...????
i can list like 30 lamps ,
radio, blinkers, brake lamps.

My guesses will be bad.
if not usa car?
if export car?
or if it has DRL lamps.?
but the simple HL lamps are just 2 fuses and an switch, USA.
free to read..... its there....

no crank is easy if your battery is charged
head lamps work and park lamps and key on cluster warnings cluster lamps, all glow,
if the warnings are dead, there is no power to the key switch, blown blow fuses.

this covers all ways.
http://jeepdied.com/no-crank.html

"....nothing."
really 100% nothing works, or glows?
inside and outside car?
if true, battery you got was old
the battery , has date code, is it over 3 months old?

My 1991 ford escort won't turn over. Fully charged battery. any ideas?

There is no relay involved in the starter circuit of this vehicle . The micro switch you are talking about at the shifter has nothing to do with the starting circuiIt either . If you have a automatic transmission There is on the transmission the park neutral safety switch . Won't allow the vehicle to start unless the transmission is in park or neutral . Ford calls the switch manual lever position switch . Try moving the shift lever to netual to see if it starts .

I replaced the starter and the battery on my 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette when I turn the key to start I get a click and nothing is there something I'm missing

Try this: Turn on the dome light. When you turn the key to start and hear the click, what does the dome light do? If it stays lit or dims only a little bit, then the battery is OK. If it does completely out, then either the starter is drawing too much current, or the battery charge is too low to turn the starter overt. New batteries are not always fully charged. Now, if there was no problem with the dome light going out, there are a few possible issues:
  1. The new starter is bad.
  2. There is not enough current getting to the starter from the battery. This could be a corroded or loose connection at the starter or battery terminal, or there may be a partially melted fusible link in the cable from the battery to the starter.
  3. The engine may be seized. The starter cannot turn the engine over if the crankshaft is frozen.

My VW golf TDi won't start since I changed my battery. It started fine for three days and now there is absolutely nothing there when I turn the key not even a click. Please help

1. Do all lights, accessories, central locking system etc in the car all operate normally.

2. Have you tested to see if the car starts when you try jump starting from another vehicle.

3. What warning lights were displaying on the vehicle a day or 2 before you had the problem.

4. Were you having the same starting problems with the old battery that you have just replaced.

1994 Honda Prelude si starting problems

Your starter motor is either not getting power or in need of replacement. Otherwise, there is nothing wrong with your car.

Also check your battery connections for no corrosion there as well as by the starter motor. Low voltage circuits in a car are extremely vulnerable to poor contact issues.

Engine won't turn over

This is most likely the battery, sometimes you can have enough power for dome lights and radio, but not enough "Cranking Amps" to start the vehicle. Charge it, or take it to an Auto zone or something. They will charge it and test it for free.

It will not start or even turn over when I try to start it

Vehicle not all the way in Park or Neutral? Bad battery? Bad battery cable? Bad Transmission range selelector switch? Bad Starter? Bad starter relay? Onboard security system disabling start circuit? Locked-up engine?

What is working and what is not? Headlamps? Interior dome lamps? Radio? Warning lamps on dash? Is the "Security" light flashing?

Is it making any noises when you turn the key?
