Hi There, I'm not much of an expert when it comes to cars. But my car was deprived of an oil an oil filter change which caused it to start burning oil and it dropped alot of power. I've now done a oil an filter change but the power is still very low. I compression tested the cylinders as i thought the rings were damaged from the burning oil all were around 105psi to 115psi dry, cars done 230,000kms, not sure how bad this is. Also I put in brand new plugs, after I ran it with the new plugs I pulled them out and cylinder 1 plug still looked brand new as though it wasn't sparking at all which could explain the lose of power. The other 3 were covered in carbon. Can anyone shed some light on this problem and tell me if its an easy fix or not? and how i can fix the dead cylinder. Please don't say I need to rebuild the engine
Yeah mate whilst that spark plug is out of the block plug it back into the spark plug lead and earth it to the body(make sure it's touching steel)Turn the key... the car should start but run rough if the spark plug is touching steel but NOT sparking then you have a coil problem.......

burned valve is likely the culprit.... or bad rings.... hook air up to that cyclinder one at a time.... and listen where the air is escaping... be aware that the motor will rotate till the piston is at the bottom of it's rotation. if it's a burned valve you will have to remove the head and replace it but somewhat easier job then replacing the rings. darn almost forgot.... it can also be a blown head gasket.... same procedure but you might need a brush and some soap water to test for an air leak at the side of the head. when you are done spray some wd 40 on it to get the water off so the spark plugs do not arc.

ignition mod. grounds, pcm or timing belt could all be it but, I would have to look at timing first.

Could be head gasket or piston rings. Piston ring issues will smoke under load or when revving the engine.
Do a compression test.

check the compression in suspect cylinders. oil could be comming from the valve seals. check the oil level fuel may be contaminating it. oil should feel a little thick with no odor of gasoline. check the firing order its easy confuse wires when changing cap/rotor.

Check timing belt, sounds like belt may have skipped.
