New battery a week prior to fire burning front passenger side, after fire battery was dead, could not jump start or charge on a home charger, took to O'Reilly's and was on charger most the day before it finally charged, put it in the Yukon and turned it on, all the electrical started flickering, clicking, and acting crazy, put on a diagnostic machine but the electrical could not be linked to fire however, the truck was fine and was driven a few hours prior to fire. Unless it's a coincidence, the fire has to be the cause.
Contact the insurance adjuster
The insurance adjuster is the one trying to prove it wasn't cause by the fire. He assumes since my truck is older it has to be in poor condition. I want to know if there are other ways aside from a diagnostic machine to prove my truck was fine and the heat and or fire caused the problem.
how much time passed between fire and battery charge and did the insurance pay anything on that vehicle
The time between fire and battery charge was about 2 weeks because it was a faulty ford part in my husbands truck that spontaniously cumbusted so my home and cars became a crime scene but the Yukon was started hear and there several times during that time. The longest it sat with out being started was 3 days which was normal for it because I'm a stay at home mom. When they finally released the vehicle to go get fixed the battery was dead. We figured it was due to a light being left on or something but when it wouldn't take a charge we started thinking something was wrong. Then when we got it started the electrical things, radio, movie player, lights, locks, etc all went crazy clicking and fladhing and when we took it out of park that's when the door locks started making a grinding noise. It's never acted like that before.
The insurance is paying for all the burned and melted areas to be fixed, the car to be detailed, and the vents to be cleaned because of all the smoke and chemical smell. But the the adjuster won't agree to the electrical because the diagnostic machine can't link it to the fire. The fire was so hot that it melted the front end of my husbands ford litterely to the drive way. The yukon was right beside it in the driveway. The fire got the passenger side from the front bumper to the back door and to about the middle of the vehicle. They can blame the fire on the airbag sensor in the bumper by the drivers side but not the other electrical.. just doesn't sound reasonable.
This is a mess, according to NEMA all components that are low voltage devices are to be replaced when they are exposed to heat that is in excess of normal exposure. That is the standard. Therefore your truck is low voltage and therefore your insurance has to replace it. There are processes to appeal a decision from an adjuster that wont honor their obligation. You need to look at your policy to see what it says about appeals, arbitration and you can also contact the state insurance commission about the company not operating "in good faith."
Thank you, I will look into it. They have done awesome on fixing my house and replacing my things inside the house but they are low balling the Ford truck and not only low balling my yukon but acting as though it was an older truck so it doesn't mater. It's ridiculous!

Removing the fuse for a few minutes and turning the controls on both driver side and passenger side to the highest setting and then turning them down slowly until the system started cooling has worked for me. Thanks for the suggestions---saved me $2500.00 on a useless dealer estimate to fix problem. These dealers are dangerous---they were the ones that caused my problem when they unhooked the battery while replacing my ignition switch.
This is a good forum.

i had the same exact problem with my chevy s-10, but once i replaced the battery it ran fine no problem, u may have fried some circuits and relays while jumping the car, and alot of times that clicking noise is your relay burning out, did your car start doing weird things too? like ejecting cd's, flashing lights really fast and weird noises?

yes it does sound like that is your problem. try checking for used one.

It sounds as if your alternator may have gone out. If you take the Yukon by an autoparts shop (Checker, Autozone, etc.), they can run a quick charging system test for you. Good luck!

may just be a loose terminal. I had mine replaced and it took a few hours before it ran right again. something about the electronic modules take a little time to recharge.
