If your only having a problem with the plug have a machinist work on it, he can remove your stripped bolt by drilling it out, if the pan thread is stripped on an aluminum pan a new helicoil insert can rebuild your pan thread.

I have a 2010 GMC Terrain and we are having to change the timing chain without taking it to a dealer. My grandfather says he can do it but needs a diagram to do it. Could you help me with that?

A repair manual would be better due to the design of lots of engines, there is often a lot of stuff that must be removed before the timing chain cover can be removed - in some cases the oil pan, water pump and cylinder head must be removed. Sometimes there are unofficial short cuts though these run the risk of oil leaks.

A timing diagram is often supplied with the replacement chain or belt.

Where is the oil filter located on a 2010 Ford Fusion SE V6?

The Oil Filter is located in the Front of the engine on a 3.0L.It is between the motor and the radiator. You will need a 7mm socket to remove the plastic cover that says oil filter on it (at least the 2011 has that). You need a 15mm wrench for the oil plug.
I rolled the Fusion up on ramps and removed the oil filter and the oil dripped all down the front of motor and all on the plastic under the motor. Next time I might jack up the back to level the car out more to make less a mess from the oil dripping.

How to change oil pan?

Step 1: Place car on jack stands or car ramps ( i prefer jack stands because i had a car ramp collapse on me once. not fun) and block the back tires.
Step 2: Loosen and remove the oil pan drain plug and drain oil into a drain pan
Step 3: Look on the outer edges of the oil pan and you will see bolts going all around the outside of the pan. Loosen them and the pan should come off.
Step 4: clean the surface where the gasket comes into contact with the engine, and if you are using the same oil pan peel the old gasket off and clean the surface on the oil pan where the gasket goes.
Step 5: Place the new gasket on the oil pan and stick the oil pan up onto the engine and stick a few bolts in on each side. Make sure the gasket stays aligned with all the bolt holes. You may use some RTV on the gasket but if the surfaces are good and clean you shouldnt have to
Step 6: tighten all the bolts to spec according to the repair manual for your vehicle
Step 7: Fill your engine with the correct type and capacity and then start the engine up and check for leaks
Step 8: Your Done!!
