SOURCE: how to change spark plugs on 2003 camry

Find out what your spark plug gap is, and the size of plugs you require from your owners manuel. Purchase a Spark plug socket for your rachett (also a rachett extension if you dont have one) And a set of Gap Measurers. Pull out the spark plug leads from the base making sure you don't pull on the cable (can damage the lead if you yank on the cable instead of the boot) and then screw out the old sparkplug and check for damage/wear. Set the gap on your new sparkplugs and screw them back in using a torque wrench for the final turn or if you don't have one only hand (do the final turn without using the rattchet just grab the wratchet extension and twist with your hand).

SOURCE: 1985 corvette no pulse to injectors

Very important that if you are not savvy of working on your Vette ...you would be better off - taking your car to a dealership for repairs on your trouble codes. However if you feel that you want to, First locate your car's alcl this component is located just below the instrument panel and to the left of the center console. Remove the plastic cover the first two slots to your right are the A & B slots.
The A slot is the diagnostic slot and the B slot is the ground slot. Insert the computer key into these slots if you do not have a computer key, a paper clip or wire jumper clip will do, (with the engine off) this is very important...now only put the ignition key to on ( not start !!!) the check engine light will display a code 12 which is one flash followed by two flashes. This code will be flashed three times ..followed by the trouble code stored in your car's computer.

What ever the code is it will be flashed three times. Have a paper and pencil ready and write down the code.

Code #12: Normal No Codes.
Code #13: Open Oxygen Sensor Circuit.
Code #14: Coolant Sensor Circuit Low.
Code #15: Coolant Sensor Circuit High.
Code #21: Throttle Position Sensor High.
Code #22: Throttle Position Sensor Low.
Code #23: Manifold Air Temperature Circuit High.
Code #24: Vehicle Speed Sensor.
Code #25: Manifold Air Temperature Circuit Low.
Code #32: EGR System Failure.
Code #33: Mass Air Flow Sensor High.
Code #34: Mass Air Flow Sensor Low.
Code #36: Mas Air Flow Sensor Burn-Off Function Fault.
Code #41: Cylinder Select Error.
Code #42: Electronic Spark Timing.
Code #43: Electronic Spark Control.
Code #44: Lean Exhaust indication.
Code #45: Rich Exhaust Indication.
Code #46: Vehicle Anti Theft Fault.
Code #51: Faulty Mem-Cal.
Code #52: Fuel Calpak Missing.
Code #52(1990-91 Corvette Only): Engine Oil Temperature Sensor Low.
Code #53: System Over Voltage.
Code #54: Fuel Pump Circuit Low Voltage.
Code #55: Defective ECM.
Code #62: Engine Oil Temperature Sensor Circuit High.

Please remember that if you have the computer key installed in the alcl and you start the engine (you will ruin the engine's computer) only put the ignition to on (not to start).

If you should get a check engine soon display.. you can use the above procedure and codes to buy the right part or at the very least to keep from getting taken for a ride and be made to pay hight prices for some inexpensive module that you could have installed yourself.

If your engine displays a trouble code ... your engine will go into limp mode ..it will still run but very poorly. You might be able to reset the computer if it will not start (just to get home) by disconnecting both battery cables and re-installing them ...this is not recommended ..but if you are stranded it might help unitl you get your car home or to a repair shop..good luck.

Good luck and hope this helps.

There can be a misfire too from the cylinders.

An engine that hesitates, stumbles or misfires when accelerating or when it is under load is an engine that is either sucking too much air, not getting enough fuel or misfiring. If the Check Engine Light comes on, you may find any of the following codes:

• P0171, P0174 Lean fuel condition codes
• P0120 to P0124 Throttle position sensor codes
• P0222 to P0229 Throttle position sensor codes
• P0400 to P0409 EGR related codes

If there are no misfire codes, a common cause of acceleration stumble is a bad throttle position sensor (TPS). The TPS tells the computer how far the throttle is open. The computer uses this information to determine how much fuel is needed to maintain the correct air/fuel mixture and when extra fuel is needed if the throttle suddenly opens wide.

Another common cause is dirty fuel injectors. If varnish deposits have built up in the tips of the injectors, they won’t spray as much fuel as they normally do, or will “dribble” fuel instead of spraying a fine mist. This creates a lean fuel mixture and conditions that are ripe for stumble and hesitation (also misfire). Look at short term fuel trim (STFT) and long term fuel trim (LTFT) with your scantool. If the numbers are high, it tells you the engine is running lean and the injectors need cleaning. Treat mild cases with a high quality fuel-injector cleaner additive. Severe cases require professional cleaning equipment.

Also if this sensors apply to your vehicle, camshaft sensor or crankshaft sensor if sensors bad you don't get any spark. Also run a scan on the car.

Good luck and rate this solution, please.

one of the small screws that secure the plates to the shaft of the swirl control system inside of intake manifold mostlikely fell out and wound up in the cylinder of the damged plug causing the damage to the plug.there was a recall by nissan to remedy this by replacing screw with threadlocker.contact your local dealer for info.

Piston hitting valve

The procedure is ti fit the timing belt properly. Did you start the process with the engine at TopDeadCenter on the compression stroke of number 1 cylinder? Something is terribly wrong, congratulations on testing the configuration by hand. I've seen what damage has been done by people that just hooked up the battery and wind it over. They had a smashing good time.

Pull all your spark plugs, put your finger over the number 1 spark plug hole and wind the engine over by until you find the compression stroke on number 1 cylinder. Keep turning slowly until you bring you crank timing mark to the timing indicator. You should be at TDC compression number 1 cylinder, you can check with a screw driver or piece of wire that the piston is at the top. Make sure you are winding the engine in its working direction. Now look at your camshaft timing marks and indicators, they should all line up. If the marks are out of line, correct them, do not move the crank.

Once you have everything lined up again and tensioned correctly. Turn over the engine by hand 2 FULL revolutions. Should be all good then.

Car not starting turn key nothing happens has power

Pull all the spark plugs out and make sure the engine still spins freely. Put a socket on the crank pulley bolt and turn the engine a couple of revolutions. With the plugs out, it should turn quite easily. If not, something may have seized from overheating.
If the engine turns easily, but the starter won't work, check all battery connections for being clean and tight, also the starter connections. If still nothing, have the starter tested. Any chance any of your wiring got burned or scorched from the overheated engine? You might want to check the wiring harness around where all the smoke was coming from.
Good luck. If you get the engine cranking, and still won't start, begin checking for spark at the spark plugs.

Car wont start

ok inot to familiar with vw however if its a diesel motor then it runs on glow plugs i would belive that , that would be the problem. (atleast with semi's) however if you do have spark plugs to check for spark pull the spark plug with that goes from the ignition pack to the distributer cap, (the distributer caps main feed in not out) have a friend start the car, let the wire hang in view and look to see if a spark emits if no spark comes then it could be the distributer. the rotor in the distributer cap, or a busted timming belt...Anoyther way to test for spark is to pull a plug from the head, re-connect it to the spark plug wire that it was connected to, take a screw driver or something , wait a butter knife is the best tool actually, put it on the end of the spark plugs head, rest the butter knife on top of the alternator or anywher you can geta good ground(non-painted surfaces) and hold the the spark plug wire on the rubber part pushing the head of the plug on the butter knife which is on a good ground and turn the car over, just a couple times not really trying to start the car just a couple revolutions and look for a spark..if no spark is seen then the above problems are true for this problem......If you are getting spark, then you need to check your fuel pressurecontroll modulator , i believe its called, its the last gateway b4 fuel is disspursed through the injectors...let me know if this was helpfull.
