Are the radiator or A/C fans still running after turning the ignition off?

Testimonial: "i think it's the A/C fan, the noise is coming from the passenger side at the top of the engine not the radiator Fan"

VW has a common problem with the fan control module (FCM) relay sticking on, some are built in to the main fan unit and some are a separate unit.

Just did a bit of searching and found a post that indicated fans could also stay on due to a faulty coolant sensor, if not then look at the FCM and it is built in to the larger of the 2 fan units on the Touareg.

Sounds like a relay is stuck on pull the relay and use a volt meter and check continuity on pinouts, if you have a resistance reading on 2 pins of 0.0 that means the relay is stuck on. Replace the relay.

I had the oil changed a few weeks ago in my mercury mariner 2007 this morning when i was driving the change oil soon message came on can you tell me why

They probably did not reset the system after the last oil change. Take it back to the mechanic and ask them to reset it.

before you do though, check the oil level to make sure the oil looks fresh and is at the full mark. - you should always do this after every oil change. I have seen cases where the oil got drained, the local drug dealer came by and no one put oil in the car, or they didn't drain it and added new oil to what was already there - very messy problem to fix later.

Sounds like your fan relay is stuck. Look in the engine area for your fuse box, there will be a list for the relays inside. Try pulling the one for the fan. Fans are powered all the time not just ignition on

My carr was due for service, i bought wrong oil altogether, we then changed and put GTX CASTROL. After draining the temperatures shoot up ana fans werent working. the fans were connected direct and managed...

Blown head gasket, unfortunately, overheated for too long somewhere along the line. Probably disconnected power wire to fans during oil change. Check oil to see if it's brownish looking. Dead give away for gasket if it is.

Electric fans runs after car is shut off, drains battery

Having the fan run on for a bit after the engine has stopped is not abnormal in itself, but 20 minutes sounds excessive.

If the fan does eventually shut off, I'd consider changing the thermoswitch (this is a sensor screwed into the radiator somewhere near the bottom, with a pair of wires connected to it - to change it, you'll need to drain the cooling system).

If the fan stays on continuously until the battery is completely flat, see what happens when you unplug the wires from the thermoswitch. If this stops the fan, you need to replace the thermoswitch. If it doesn't, then you need to examine the wiring associated with the switch and the fan, looking for damaged insulation.

Engine fan keeps running

It's possible that the fan control relay is intermittently sticking causing the fans to run continuously. This can overheat and subsequently blow the fuse. Try replacing the relay and see if anything changes.

Hope this helps.
